Ive hit the brick wall and just can not get my reps to increase!
Ive been sitting around this mark for around 4 months or so now no matter how hard i try! Its really ****ing me off TBH
Does anyone have any suggestions of how i can increase my reps?

I can push out 116 Push ups in 2 minutes but when it comes to Sit ups i just cant work out why i cant get any higher:confused:

Please help:)

These are military sit ups shown in the link below

45 to get in which i can do. But thats beside the point.

I dont want to just get in i want to smash the test :D

Also one of the girls i train with can get 120. And im competitive and need to beat her :p

Use a 5 or 10 kilo weight to do less reps to start with and then build up with that. You will smash through 45 without the weight

oh ok, that's good, it's just that in that picture there was hands supported.

You could try doing some pull ups/ chin ups. As well as working most of your upper body, they work abs quite hard, probably a lot harder than a few situps.

This might help :)

Military situps work hip flexors very aggressively. So hanging knee/leg raises will help a lot.

Try situps to failure and supersetting with leg raises.
Also try drop sets from 15 kg to body weight.

Ant

Thanks for the help so far :)
Ill have try a lot out.
I also do a fair bit of fitball stuff and resisted Sit ups and back raises at the gym to help my core muscles

Any more suggestions would be great

You might be surprised under pressure. I could comfortably do 50 military situps, but when I did my test I cranked out 96 in the 2 minutes.

im in recruit training for marines still, we do situps rarely or at least not many of them as i dont think they have much benefit to actual battle fitness or at least theres not much in the syllabus past the opening weeks.

However when doing them do them with your knees firmly together its a little bit harder but simulates gripping up ropes in rope climbs doing this i went from doing about 60-70 army (aka the easier variety :D) situps and now i can do 85+ and just run out of time doing army style situps. Not sure how good doing them with weight would be as after a certain point its how quick you can move up and down rather then your strength.

Normally when i go for big numbers its against this girl so there is a fair amount of pressure and determination to win.

By 50 though ive slowed right up and start loosing form and just cant get high enough.

And if you knew how competitive i am you will realize its a very big problem:p

10 reps, 1 minute rest and repeat 9 times for 100 reps total. 4 days rest then repeat but knock 5 seconds off the rest time. Repeat this until your rest time is down to zero

Brilliant idea

Although 4 days rest? Surely recovery wont take that long?
