Banana death?

Me and my friends where having a debate and It seems it was me against the lot. I am arguing that there must be some speed (realistically) that a banana could travel where upon impact with a human's head it could be lethal.

For example, If I were to be travelling in a car at say, 150mph and I threw the banana from the window with an initial velocity of 30mph, essentially the banana is travelling 180mph right?

Surely something as heavy as a banana would do serious damage at this speed.

Someone back me up

Thanks guys

I don't think it's just about the weight it's about the structural integrity of the banana, so I suppose it would depend on how ripe the banana is.

Hmm, a Banana would have some clout but it would depend on how well it can transfer that energy from itself to your body. I suspect the banana would fly apart on impact and reduce the impact that you felt, I'd say this needs real world testing though.

Well yes but I'd imagine it would have to be significantly faster than 180mph. An example would be rubber bullets the police use in riots and such, they travel much faster than that (I think), and unless they hit you in a soft spot like the eye, do little more than hurt like hell.

This sounds like a job for............

I think if travelling fast enough it would break your neck but it would not penetrate your head. Much like diving into water from a skyscraper and landing on your head?

I don't think you can just add speeds like that :p But the banana would just burst on a human skull as it is much, much harder than a banana!

Wouldn't have to penetrate though. Like you said could cause internal injuries like break a rib and puncture lung etc.

Mario Kart is probably the closest relevant computer simulation in this respect, what with its advanced physics and dynamics, and I don't recall any of the banana-based weapons being fatal as such.

I don't know about a Banana but I've been egged in the face from a car doing at least 70 on a motorway. It hurt like hell but as far as I'm aware, I am still alive.

I'm pretty sure a Banana would deform less on impact and impart more energy than an egg so there's life in this theory yet...

2800mph? (that would prob rip your head off lol)

Going fast enough a banana would have the force of a nuke, thats FACT
