Hi just bought a new 9800 gt gfx card as i thought my old gfx card had had it.
But the same problem is occuring. When i move a window in windows xp the box stutters and lags...whats going on? and how can i solve this problem

You have installed the correct up-to-date drivers for your OS right? And removed the old ones first?

thanx.. i also have another problem to do with my hard drive as my previous one was discarded due to a virus, i have correctly installed the new hard drive into my PC but once i installed windows xp onto it.. the Hard disk has been placed in the :H drive.. instead of the :C drive..

so how can i make the new hard drive become :C and not :H?

it would be great to get any help regarding this

OK, here's some food for thought. When I swapped my 7800gt for an 8800gt, I noticed the 2D performance in Windows XP was noticeably worse. This manifest itself in laggy scrolling on some websites (particularly image intensive *chan boards).

Either I've just come to live with it, or (equally likely) the switch to Windows 7 cleared it up, but I don't notice the problem any more. It was equally likely a driver thing, even tho I'd uninstalled the 7800 drivers before installing the 8800 (same drivers, I just figured it would copy across different files or whatever).

But it was something I definitely noticed on swapping the two cards over. The 7800gt had faster 2d rendering on XP. The problem manifest itself in Linux too (there I hadn't bothered to change/reinstall any drivers).

The conclusion I drew at the time was that not all cards have the same 2D performance, although looking back it might have been that a fresh XP install may have fixed it. I'll never know now :p
