Unlocked to quad now wont boot

ok ive got to say to people thanks for your help but IT WILL NOT POST AT ALL!!! if it could still post with 2 cores i wouldn't be complaining i bought a dualy!! oh and yep ive done a hard bios reset :)

the problem could be there memory, as i used to have 4gb of ddr2 666mhz on a am2 board switch supported it, and it was not value ram, i upgraded MB to a intel 775 (for a q6600) the board said on the website and on box it supported 666mhz however every time i tried to boot it just has no signal but everything worked lights and fans, but no windows loading sounds, to i got a cheap stick on 800 mhz (high Timings but just to test) and it work all booted and everything was fine, i know people are going to comment back to change settings in bios, but i couldn't do this no screen, when i installed the 800 mhz stick and whent into bios i enabled lagency support for ram (666mhz) but it still would not boot with them sticks but the am2 board did fine, just to make sure ram was ok ram about three memory test programs and they all worked and passed fine. i even went on to the manufactors website to check the support of the MB for the RAM and it said everything was ok with that ram, about 2 years later and 2 bios updates i tried the old ram and it worked lol, if you ask me they shouldn't of advertised it was support 666mhz if it didn't

but it has booted previously...i think it might be the PSU, as i have now built another system with another chip and the only common component is the PSU and neither are working, getting a test one tomorrow, as i dont want to strip out my main rig yet!!

OK crazily it was the board taking out the chip...both are being RMAd, i have tested both with a new chip and new mobo and they are both dead.
Im never buying ASUS again, im now running an unlocked 550 in a £30 Gigabyte board, frankly im p*****d off with ASUS.

I hope all goes well for you from now on, I know how much it sucks when parts just **** up and you have done everything right.

this sounded like my asus striker ii extreme! this surpose high-end board died with a day and refuse to post after a few resets. i didnt even get to change the bios settings or overclock! i did everything trying to fix it like reset cmos, etc. but no help. yeah i will never buy another asus product ever again in my lifetime!

hehe i wouldn't be interested in PCs if i couldn't play with them...would probably just buy a DELL lol

Recovery disks, pre-installed trial software, branded connection and security manager utilites that eat up your cpu cycles, etc. etc. :eek:The horror!

Well yes obviously that's the case SOME of the time, if it was the case all the time nobody would bother trying unlocking.

cause it "just works" right? Just like a mac "just works"?

pfffft. The 3 dells (2 laptops, and first ever desktop pc) I have had all sucked, performance i expected but even stability etc. The first computer we ever owned was a power mac 75mhz beast, and it crashed all the time lol.

First PC i built, only BSOD's I ever got were due to me clocking the CPU, over 3 years, until the mobo died :)

Latest build isnt nearly so stable though.....stupid tweaking and playing with things I dont know about and new os's and driver features and stuffs. I cba to learn more.
