Ok when i play my steam games they lag badly when hdd is being read. Ive been told by a friend that I could change the virtual memory (page file) to solve this problem. Could someone please help me or give some info. This issue is making me crazy. Thanks....

PS I have 4 gb of ram. windows 7 64.

make sure write caching is enabled on the drive and its running at the right UDMA mode.

would also help to run the resource monitor in the background so you can see what the hard drive is doing.

I need to know what initial and maximum size to use in mb, just tryd initial 1000 and maximum 5000 and stutter in avp3 seems to have gone completly. Please could a more advanced user assist me? dont want to screw this up. thanks...

Can i ask if this might be a steam and/or a certain game thats causing issues?

Also do games outside steam run ok?

All games but steam games more so, So far changes to virtual memory seem to have solved problem (I hope), about to take KnightswhosayNi's advice and change initial and max to 6gb, but just finishing install of mw2 1st. Because changes will require a reboot.

try to adjust the page file to be the same size as your ram, so 4gb ram=4000mb pagefile size, always good to set it after an install of windows so its not fragmented :) hope this helps
