kicking your speakers off your desk

my desk is enormous, even if i had speakers on it i'd never have to worry about accidentally knocking them off.

i wish i could afford some decent hi-fi speakers though :(

I know shud just get a bigger desk. Money isn't an issue it's just that... had this (crappy) desk a while, nobody likes change.. Right?

Haven't used my speakers in a while now, i've got used to using headphones, and from time to time forgetting they're round my neck and getting up and yanking the cable out of the pc :)

I've also recently developed a habbit of leaving a drink next to my bed, this cost me the other day when i woke up wondering why my phone alarm hadn't gone off, only to find i'd knocked it into the glass and drowned it during the night :(

My surround sound setup is wall-mounted apart from the subwoofer, which is on the floor and much too heavy to be moved that way. My room is aligned to the speakers - chair first, so I'm in the right spot, then everything else to fit.

Although since I got neighbours I find that I use headphones instead. With my shift patterns, it would be unfair on the neighbours to use the speakers.

Sounds like you have got an awesome setup :)

Headphones. I always stand up and walk off with them on my head or round my neck. Surprised they still work and the jack isn't damaged.

Comes of having my own house and living alone - I can do what I want with any room. So I did. The system is a decent Logitech, not high-end kit, but a dedicated room and proper positioning adds a lot. The cabling is ugly, but I don't care and there's no-one else to complain about it.

I have been known to spin my chair round in real life in response to sound from behind me in a game :)

If you do use speakers and you get a chance to do surround sound properly, take it. It adds a lot. If you're leery about drilling into walls for the mounting, you could do what I did. Glue some wood to the wall with something like No More Nails and mount the speakers to the wood. Dark wood panel on a bright yellow wall - looks nice as well as being useful.

Snap. Can't beat it :D

I did this once while watching porn. It wouldn't have been that bad but when i plug my headphones into my hifi I have to turn it up pretty loud :o.
