Awake at 04:00 (Scum dole *****)

I thought of this sketch when I saw the OP...

£600k in a lump sum would be nice, but I think there are quite a few of us who earn that amount over a short period of our working lives.

I wouldn't move abroad, I'd buy a house here for around £200,000 and simply work part time when I felt the need. Honestly I'd be bored silly if I didn't have a job of some kind even if I had unlimited resources and not just £600K. You need something to keep you sane and more importantly people to do that.

Thailand would be the last place I'd go!

90% chance of OP absolutely failing to keep hold o the money responsibly, and will lose to a life of squalor and failure.

Feel free to prove me wrong.

Rather than "living" of £200 per week, why dont you make a challenge to see how much you could make of that, or something for example.

Where I live, I could by myself a nice flat for 200k, and get another 2decent 3bed flats easily for under 200k.

Both flats I would then be able to rent out for £900 PCM, so giving provisions for repairs/flats being empty, I could probably garauntee myself an income of £18000PA.

Now the average wage today, is meant to be 20k, or thereabouts I believe, so you would be living of a wage lower than average, but with your £200, and even just a part time job, you could probably afford to take on another property, and pay that off easily to increase your capital.

For instance, with your £200PW atm, what do you want to get out of life?

You could use that to "live" or "travel", and while at home, you could challenge yourself say to follow Donglemouse's footsteps(google) in matched betting perhaps, or do some freelance IT work, depending of what your into.

In essence, imo there is a lot you could do, it all depends on how much you want to live your life/invest in your future.

Best of luck!

I purchased about £700 worth of land in Second Life about 2 years ago, now it's worth about £9,000. :D

Amazing, considering that Second Life land has dropped in value over the last 3 years, your land value has actually increased over 1000% ! You, sir, are an economic genius.

"The price of land (L$/sqm) is dropping since 2007. July 2007 the price was L$8.4/sqm, while for January 2010 it is L$.85/sqm." Louis Platini - Metaverse.

My land is in Bay City near the newbie entrance area. :D

it to me 600k would buy you a nice home and an awesome car. That recent lotto jackpot of 73mil or whatever, now THAT's life changing.

Of course 600k is life changing. Not only do you have zero Mortgage or rent, which is life changing on it's own. With some clever investments you could live of the investment or at least earn enough so you could do a job you liked and not worry how little pay it was.

Fun fun fun.

I'm happy.

Anyone angry at me for having a life free from work?

My auntie died last year (I loved her lots) and I'm living of the cash from her will. Should I be out looking for a job or just kicking back and smoking some weed like she did.

I don't have enough money to last me for the rest of my life. I'm getting the full amount when I'm 21 but just now I'm on an allowance of £200 per week.

Should I learn a trade or just wait for the payout (not enough to last my life at my rate of spending) or try to manage my money like my aunt would have wanted me to?

I will recieve 600,000 when I'm 21

This is why i don't see the point amassing money in life, because the twerps who will eventually inherit it will just blow it, literally.

Enjoy the money while it lasts.

What were your life goals before you knew about the money? Had you planned on Uni?

OP it's your life, and it will be your cash. Do with it what you will.

Do not lend too much of an ear to those who have fully succumbed to the social conditioning mantra of finding a job, a mate, and loading yourself up with debt in pursuit of the Joneses (choose life...)

Likewise, beware the trip to Vegas and ho's suggestions.

Remember: Any of that £600k you have left at retirement will be paying for your care home. If you spend it all, the state will pay for your care home. Guess what? Either way, you'll still be in the same care home.

The variable will be how many awesome stories you can share with your demented, bed wetting chums (if you can remember any of them).
