Hi guys,

No I'm not buying one right now, although its definite contender as a next car.

My friend has one the spec is as follows:

BMW e36 328i - N reg
Convertible
Black
Cream leather interior
Auto
75k
FSH
Uprated speakers all round (for y0 banging choons innit!)
Has had a full detail and mopping so the paint work is immaculate
It's got these wheels http://catalog.thewheelwarehouse.com/images/BN96.jpg and they are brand new, recently fitted.

She also works for a motorfactors, rides an R6 and is a motor enthusiast through and through so I know it will have been well looked after, has had a fair bit of work done to it recently (something to do with the rear wheel hubs, cannot remember exactly) and will be sorting out a few niggly bits before it goes, aerial has snapped for example, nothing major overall.

She has said if I want it it's 3k and I can have it anytime and pay her off, whenever. Now like I said I'm not having it (I'd rather give her the 3k first :p)

But I want to know if it's a good price, haven't got any pics of it, she's only changing because she's going to get an e46 M3.

Cheers :)
Jake

To be honest, that sounds a little expensive to me for an E36, but, if it's a 'really' good clean one that's been very well looked after, as you say it has been and had all the usual wear out parts changed so you don't have to do it right away or even in 6 months, then it seems ok.

I think from 1998 they used alusil block liners. I just recommended a 328i sport coupe to a colleague who bought it for £4000, I am sure he will be along here soon with a picture or too. It's not been abused and had a decent history with a few selected modifications which improve the car (M3 LSD, Z4m Shortshifter, 2.5 manifold, new leather seats among many other things) to justify the £4000 price.

Nice cars, reminds me of my first car (318is), I love the E36.

I must admit that I noticed most of the 328i sport coupe's are pretty manky on pistonheads currently.

I would say £1600-2200 private, if it's in good nick. I'm no expert, but I have owned a few e36's (I might buy another!).

So what's this issue mentioned with the engines?

Also the only thing off putting is the fact it's an Auto, and I'd rather a manual. Although she claims the autobox on it is nice and smooth and it wouldn't bother me :p
