I have a quite early 360 with 20GB drive and have seen an offer on a brand new 120GB 360 Elite for £159. Would this be worth going for?

Is the Elite quieter/cooler than the original?

Also, how would I get my content (save games etc.) from the old console to the new one? And what could I do with my old 360? - it's only had light use and has been reliable so far.

What do you think?

Use a memory card to transfer them between the consoles.

As for old one, sell it ?

Thanks Pen66. I'm still undecided as most of the comparisons I see on the web say that the Elite is no quieter than the original. If that's the case I may as well try to track down a 120GB hard drive for my exsiting unit - though they seem to be hard to find, everywhere I look has no stock. I don't need HDMI as my 360 is connected with the VGA cable, so there doesn't seem to be many other reasons to change. Hmmm..

I wouldn't bother unless you want to sell your current 360 to off-set the cost a bit, they don't go for that cheap, one like yours without any trouble should still get 50-70 with the hdd/leads/controller.

I recently bought a second hand Arcade with a 120gb drive from an Elite, I'd like the Elite purely because it's black but that's it, I also don't need HDMI as use VGA connected to one of my PC screens.

I did exactly what your looking to do, just before xmas. Elite's dvd is quieter than my early 20gb, new jasper chipsets are highly unlikely to rrod and you'll get a new warranty as I'd wager yours is out. If your machine hasn't rrod yet it probably will and some point....

Mine did and MS replaced it with an identical new machine and with hdd, newish controller and cod 3 went for £85 delivered.

Personally i'd look what bundles are around - my elite worked out much less than £159 when I factored in the games and stuff that came with it.

I am in a similar position, my Old school Xbox hard drive is getting a bit full plus it is white and horrible.

I don't think it is worth it for now unless I can find a buyer. I have component and VGA, prefer the Component tbh, works at 1080p and the colours are more vivid.

It depends on what warranty you've got really. My 3-year warranty for RROD expires in April on my 20Gb premium and fortunately it died last weekend. I've used it as a chance to upgrade and I'll proabaly sell the repaired unit when it's been returned.
