I've looked at different benchmarks, not for these specific cards but the general models and not sure which to choose.

I seen in some benchmarks the 9800gt is quite a bit faster than the 5670 in some games (crysis) but on others they are quite even.I would go for the 5670 if they are basically more or less the same as the power requirements are a lot less (i think) for the 5670.Or if there another better option can someone tell me thanks.

Agree with 5670, it would be perfect for gaming at low resolutions, and if your have windows 7 you can take advantage of DX11. Stick with the 512mb version, the 1Ggb version is not worth the extra £20 for 1-2 fps

Actually I have read a review recently showing comparison between the HD5670, HD4770, and 9800GT. Performance wise HD4770 and 9800GT are very close, but the HD 4770 is a little be faster than the 9800GT, where as the HD5670 is fair bit slower in comparison...I'm guessing it is around the performance of a 9600GT.

But one thing to bare in mind is that the 'Green Edition' 9800GT have the clock speed unclocked to 550MHz comparing to the usual 9800GT that's at 600MHz, so it would be a bit slower...but I think it would probably still be slightly faster than HD5670.

As for the the dx 11 on the HD5670...the card would not be powerful enough to give a playable frame rate running games in dx 11 mode at 1680x1050 and above (it would be like a slideshow).

Anyway, see if you can find some test result on the Green Edition of the 9800GT instead of the normal 9800GT. If it is not much faster than the HD5670, then may be you could get the HD5670 and play around with games in dx 11 mode in 1280x1024 or something to see if it would be smooth enough, and if not then just play in dx 9 or 10 mode.

Agreed that the 5670 is quite underpowered when it comes to larger resolutions, and you will struggle trying to run medium settings on crysis at native 19". However if you want to get something a little more powerful (5770, 5830, 5850) then that opens more doors for upgrading such as your power supply. Depends what your budget is, and of course you want to get as much 'bang for buck' as you can
