Sons 4850 just died while I was playing on it he doesn't know yet :eek:,

Couple of suggestion would be great.
He games at 1920 x 1080 on a 24" & plays all latest fps.

I agree 5770 is a very good card at the £120 price mark. However, there were example that it might struggle a bit when run in dx 11 mode at 19xxX12xx, 4AA mode in game such as as AVP with minimum frame rate drop to 24fps. Sure it is still considerly smooth in most part of the game, but when fps drop to below 25 you would start to notice "slow down".

My suggestion would be if you can afford it, it's best to get a 5850 instead to provide yourself more headroom on the minimum frame rate, as well as average and maximum frame rate.
 
Agree with the 5570, however only if you can utilise the DX11 (windows 7 etc). If your running XP go for something like the 4890.

Either way, both really good cards.
