I was just watching Alien....

Watch the scene in ALiens where Bishop does his speedy knife trick over the soldiers hand.

Rewind and watch it again focusing on the people in the background, especially the black guy just behind them. He looks like an epileptic nutter having an electric shock in super speed.

:D:D:D

 I think Aliens has ages really well, the effects are great because they're not dodgy early CGI like Alien³ has. The only dodgyness come from the model work, which is still very very good.
I watched Aliens a few months back and thought it had aged terribly. Will always be a great film of course, I was just surprised at how cheap it all looked compared to how my memory recalled.

one of the worst for this ive spotted is evolution were the girl is in the changing room before the flying one comes into the mall, she puts a top on i think purple with an orange one on the wall then next shot she has the purple one on over the orange one.

I didn't think Alien 3 or Resurrection were that bad. Certainly better than any of the AVP films (though I admit I haven't seen AVP2).

Isn't there supposed to be a prequel to Alien coming? About the space jockey? Will prolly be crap though :(

Why? I thought Alien3 was pretty good. In terms of suspense it was great. Anything would have had a tough time following Aliens because fans wanted the guns and marines again.

I just thought it was awful. CGI sucked (which they shouldn't have used in the first place), story was terrible, location was bad and the actors were bad. Just my opinion of course, but having watched the Directors Cut, i would never watch it again.

I think all 4 Alien movies are good. Obviously the first 2 are the best. But the 3rd is also a great film, although it was cut up and thrown around to different directors. The end result is a good continuation to the Alien franchise, which held the same atmosphere and themes. The 4th movie isn't too ba. In the recent years I've been warming to Ressurection probably because the AvP movies hands down destroyed the franchise. I really hope another AvP movie is never made as the two worlds were easily more successfull seperatly.
I hope the new prequel from Ridely is going to be good

There is CGI, but i guess for the actual Alien its not. Puppeted and then super imposed over the image.

Actually, there is one CGI shot of the Alien...maybe some background CGI for other bits in the film. I should have mentioned I meant that there is just no CGI for the alien, not the whole film :D

Alien 3 was a huge pile of crap.
I dont think I've ever seen a plausible explanation of how Ripley is supposed to of gotten infected in the first place.
If you look at online Q & A's the answer is the audience wasnt supposed to question how the face hugger got on the sulaco, or how Ripley got infected.

So its meaningless, it makes no sense, what should be happening is someone go and remake Alien 3 as a film that makes some sense.

I mean just look at how stupid it is:

Its a fresh drop ship that rescues Ripley and Newt, so its not picked up anything on the surface.
The Queen that latches onto the back of the drop ship left her Egg Sac behind.
The Queen didnt have any eggs with her when she was chasing Ripley.

Would'nt you check the loading bay over again after all that?

It is Sci Fi, it doesn't need to make sense.
Just watch it for what it is.

It does, when it comes to something "happening" out of the blue.

"Good job I happened to pack our bat shark repellent Robin".

Love Alien and Aliens, although Aliens is more rewatchable due to the slow pacing of Alien. Alien 3 I liked, not as good as the others but wasn't terrible. Although the alien did look awful.

Resurrection is a guilty pleasure of mine :D Although the half alien/human THING is just wrong.

AvP is alright, easy enough to watch and AvP I do like just cos they kill kids :D

80s sci fi kind of films are great IMO. OK not perfect, but for me the real sets and animatronics etc are so much more immersive. Modern films I might just watch once. 80s films I can watch over and over.

There's mistakes like this is many films old and new. There is so much room for error when making a movie there's sites dedicated to pointing them out :D

I'm going to try my best to not sound arrogant here.

I study Film and TV and am currently in my final year, I read about and watch a lot of films, to say I know more than you about the subject? No not necessarily, but I'd like to think I'm not ignorant on the topic.

Anyway, there is a person on the crew hired SPECIFICALLY for continuity, the idea being that when the film is in post-production it should make sense when it is cut together. If it doesn't matter tell me why this person is hired?

Secondly, it's not about it making sense, it's about production values. Something as simple as drinking a cup of coffee really does have to make sense because it has no relation to the narrative, Ripley is simply drinking a cup of coffee. This cup of coffee has no agenda....

Furthermore, it just makes the production look tacky. As I say, narrative structure doesn't have make 'sense', Magnolia is proof of that. But something as simple as drinking coffee in the same scene.....yes it does.

When I see a mistake as obvious as this it reminds me that I'm watching 'just a movie'.
