Bought a 2001 51 plate 318i SE - the 140bhp version. 88'000 miles. It's the facelifted model. Seems to be in very good condition. Just had an MOT only advisory notes were slightly worn rear disc and slight corrosion on the brake lines. Paid £4300 which I'm happy with as it's slightly below book for that model and most pre-facelift cars seem to be on sale for more than that.

Pictures when I pick it up next weekend once my cheques have cleared etc!

Due an interval II service this summer. How much will that set me back?

Cheers!

It's just over 8 years old - 51 plate is any time between September 2001 and February 2002.

But yes, this is what they cost.

Oh I see, no doubt its a nice car just seems to be a lot money for an oldish normal BMW.

Supply and demand. A '51 plate Mondeo of the same specification and performance in decent nick would be about £2500 so its 'only' another 1700 quid.

I dont think I'd ever want a 318i SE myself.

Are there any genuine reasons to buy a 318SE? I personally see it as a quite expensive way into BMW ownership and you end up with a quite low specked model for £4300, just wouldn’t be my choice personally; I’m not bashing the Ops choice of car if you are happy that all that matters :)

It's still a nicely built car, just without the performance or equipment you get from the better models.

You need to be careful with them at this money though as they tend to get bought by people who have not got a clue what they want only 'some bmw'. A bit like the OP who last month wanted a mid engined convertible....

But isn’t that the point of buying a BMW to pay into the performance and toys you get :D Anyway im just going on..

It moves forward and has a BMW badge. It even goes backwards actually, once I worked out you have to like push the gearstick to the left in a weird way.

Not everyone wants 250bhp and/or the additional running costs associated. Sometimes it's nice to just have a quality product :)

I'm not saying that, you can pick up some nice 3 series with leather and other various toys, the 318iSE has nothing inside to me it seems a lot for what you get but hey its his money.

You can spec a 318i SE up to the hilt if you are so inclined. They aren't all the same, so how you can make such a broad statement is beyond me.

I've seen 318s with more kit than my 330.

He hasn’t mentioned anything in the OP so I took that to be basic spec, you would have presumed if it was specked up to the 'hilt' the OP would have said so..

In he same vein though I don't think I've ever seen a truely "base" spec (specification doesn't have a k in it, so spec'd or specced) 318i, so simply saying a 318iSE has "nothing inside" is too broad a statement to make.

Truley is spelt truly if you must know, if you want to be pedantic about spelling.

Anyway lets get the OP to post what options the car has, I agree it is a broad statement but looking at most PH links the 318iES has cloth seats and just generally a basic BMW, to me £4300 is a lot to pay.

Paradigm spelt Truley "truely" if you truly want to be pedantic about truly
