***Graphics Card Prices are going up 5-10%***

It's the exchange rate, it's been like it for 8 months now. Not just effected electronics.

Last summer OCUK sold me a new GTX 260 (216 cores) for £99, old stock clear out at the time but still.

Like they arent ridiculously expensive enough already.

Should add the cost onto US products, as much cheaper already there, they should take the hit :)

The whole gpu situation is becoming a joke. Prices on both sides are cr*p. And nvidia are becoming seriously delayed with fermi. Stock levels have been pitiful for a long time as well. Now were getting told prices to go up further? ho ho!

Can't believe I am starting to get tempted to just get a 5870 now. Even though I think they are all overpriced, am beginning to think that prices aren't going to get better for quite some time.

I'm just going to stay with my current GFX Card until these prices roll down again. It is inevitable they wil decrease in the future.

I am becomeing more and more disinterested in hardwear. Well that's not true I love my hardwear. But the state of the market in the UK is shocking. I wont put money into it anymore.its all very well quoting vat and the like but I'm pretty sure that we have a much greater upper margin than our american cousins. Untill what we pay is brought into line with what they pay I'm only going to buy what I need.

I still have my 3870 that i was meaning to swop out with 2 5870s or even 2 5970s ontop of that a 1000w psu would follow but I'm not buying any of it because every time I do splash out on new components I feel like I have been fleeced at the same time.

It's actually getting to the point were I think I could get a cheep weekend return to America, buy all the kit I want there and have a good time and come back having spent about the same money and having something to show for it...

My brother got a laptop from america recently even after the £50 postage it worked out over £100 cheeper.

I really have to wonder what is happening with this country or rather what has been happening for so long with no change.

rant rant rant ;)

Yup... Simply a case of supply not keeping up with demand. Hopefully things will even out towards the end of the year. I got my Radeon 5850 pretty much as soon as it was released for £200 inc. VAT. Given the current prices and assuming a 10% increase that same card might cost about £80 more in a few months than what I paid.

Good investment - should've bought more! :D

Whilst I know OCUK give competitive prices, the 5800 range are very expensive.

I am considering either a 4ghz core2quad or a 4ghz i5 quad pc, but at over £300 for the 5870 I just can't bring myself to upgrade the lot.

On reflection I should have grabbed a 5850 at launch.
