I know it is possible to get this on a 5770's Core clock speed... Has anyone done it? If so did you have to Volt tweak? Use aftermarket coolers?

Thanks in advance...

Yep I've done it.

Needed about 1.25-1.26v on the cards no aftermarket coolers required it ran about 70c load. This ties in with most other peoples results.

That said. I knocked it down to 970MHZ @ 1.2v purely because 1Ghz seems to need a big jump in voltage for just an extra 30Mhz

Seen a few people putting accelero s1 on these as well as a few other coolers not meant for it yet working well with some modding and making 1ghz clocks 24/7 achievable.

In my experience 1Ghz 24/7 is easily doable with the stock coolers. Of course lower temps are always nicer though, the reason for me reducing my clocks down was because I didn't think the extra voltage was worth the mhz

Very interesting link their Tom|Nbk, thanks for that it's helped me out in deciding my upgrade. I was originally going to get a 5850 but with a trip to Plymouth coming up that i hadn't planned for i'm going to have to cut my budget. It would seem an overclocked one of these would be matching a 5830 give or take a little and would cost a damn sight less and thus has made up my mind. May i ask how easy was it for you to achieve your clocks? I'm relatively new to OC'ing GPU's i tend to just ramp up the slider in CC and that's my lot. Also am i correct to assume that this would be the 5770 to go for at the moment with it's voltage tweaking options and non reference cooler etc.?

Well since release my 3dmark (vantage GPU) score at 1000/1400 has gone from just over 10,000 to just over 11,000. I reckon if the reviews were done with the CAT 10.2s we would see the 5770 crossfire trading places with the crossfire 4890.

Download MSI afterburner, set core voltage slider to around 1.225-1.25, set the core speed to 1000MHZ, set the memory from 1300-1400 and click apply, then click apply at startup. Don't touch overdrive in the CCC.

Thanks for those results Meaker, you wouldn't by any chance have a before and after of any game benchies would you? Looking to order today, i wont get a 5850 at the moment as the mark up on those in stock is ridiculous at the moment, so looks like 5770 CF is the way to go.

EDIT: Also what's the best way of testing the stability of an OC on a GPU? Normally i use furmark to test for temps etc. would this work for stability?

every time i try and set the Core clock over 960 it goes back to 960 any ideas? Also how do you unlock the option to increase the voltage?

I'm at 945MHz on stock volts, but would always be interested to see what she can do. Using a Sapphire card, can I still use MSI afterburner to tweak volts if I need, or do I need to flash bios etc? If it's just a case of using msi I might give this a crack.

Hello there :)

I did a few screenshots of going from a 4850 to a 5770. Before, after and overclocked using the Stalker Pripyat benchmark ;)

I was very pleased with the overclock result but started to notice some artifacts so dropped it back to 990 and upped the volts abit and had no problems since :)

Hi UltraDad Thanks for those results, Despite what everybody else says it would seem the 5770 with overclock does seem like a good upgrade path especially as the 58** series has become rip off paradise at the moment. What did you use to test stability? i've got furmark at te moment but is there anything else i can use and what should i look for?
