performance increase from 3.2 to 4.0 (AMD PHENOM II 955)

1.4 is basic stock volts for those.
Temps are high tho, I get max 50c with just zalman 9700 and h50 is supposed to be lot better. Maybe your cooler is not seated properly ? Try reseating it.

Temps are still going up to 40c idle. I took the pump out and turned it upside down.. made sure all the screws were tight... still high idle temps.

I'm I just being paranoid or is this temp fine?

nope.

stock voltage can be anything between 0.850-1.40V

to the OP, set everything back to stock then tell us what's the stock voltage from the bios.

another thing to think about is u may need to update the bios.

im pretty sure the stock volts is around 1.4V. the lower values are for when cool and quiet is enabled.

my am2+ 940 BE has stock voltage of 1.32V all amd did really with the phenom2 cpus released after mine was increase voltage and multiplier. (and enable ddr3 memory controller)

40 idle is good. im at around that too. more important though is the temp when ur stress testing it.

nope.

if cool and quiet is enabled the clocks would drop also.

i had a 720 which had a stock voltage of 1.25v and other people's 720's was around 1.35v

i contacted amd about it and they said each cpu is made slightly different and the stock voltage can be within the given range....

as for the temps, 40c idle is alittle high.. mine idles at 30c at 3.8ghz 1.425v, 2.6ghz cpu-nb. this is with air cooling
