At the moment i have an ASUS Silent Knight 2 even tho i LOVE the look of it inside my case lol im into Overclocking my 955 at the moment and feel there MUST be something a bit better!? Only problem is there arnt any comparisons between Silent Knight and newer Heatsinks :( so cant tell if there any better or what.

So which is better out of these

Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme
Vs
Corsair h50?

Would these be much better than SIlent Knight 2?.. im at 3.8 at the mo with 4.75vcore and the highest it gets is around 61c
(or any others?) My budget is around £60.. (would prefer if it was under £50 tho lol)

Now id think the Corsair as its a form of watercooling! But ive ehard the TU120 is near enough as good and a lot cheaper!?

I like the look of both of them.. one water cooling.. one that has a lot of good reviews... but which is better?......
Only one way to find out...

They are both very good. I believe the h50 has a slight performance edge. This review shows the H50 is 2 degrees cooler than the TRUE on a 3.4GHz X3 system.

Also, bear in mind that if you buy the TRUE you will want to buy 1 or 2 high performance (high static pressure) fans - while the H50 comes with one. This helps to even out the cost.

Oh i didnt know that :/ i was hopeing to use my

Enermax Magma 120mm Fan with Batwing blades fan on it :/ just read the description tho and dosnt say anything about being a High static fan:(

Looking at those fans, I'm sure they will do the job fine.

As well as the TRUE, you may want to look at the Prolimatech Megahalems. It is a tower cooler which performs on-par with the H50 and a few degrees better than the TRUE. It also has a wider fin spacing, so it deals with lower speed/noise fans compared to the TRUE.

V nice heatsink :D but its a tiny bit large (height) for my case :'( 158.7mm!?! lol my silent Knight is 105MM and its about an inch or two from the side :'(

From what I remember, the Megahalems is actually a bit shorter than the TRUE (I have had both). Check out this page (2nd picture down), the Megahalems is on the left, the TRUE on the right.

Therefore, if you are going to have problems with height then I would suggest going for the H50. As long as your case has a real 120mm fan mount then you will be getting a truly excellent cooler. Add on your Enermax fan too and you will get even better cooling performance.

Oh maybe i have it right then :/.. The silent knight is Taller than the Ultra so if its as small as the ultra.. Ill get a tape measure and look later!

I have a weird set up lol I have a 3M duct tube that leads from outside into the house and is connected upto my exhaust fan (which is blowing air into the case) So im pumping in cold air into the case from outside! So hopefully that corsair would be extra cool :D i still doubt ill get much higher than 3.9 tho :(

I'm not sure the Silent knight is taller than the TRUE, remember the true mounts 120mm fans but the ASUS is only 110mm tall, suggesting the TRUE is indeed much bigger.

Hearing about your (frankly awesome) air tube, I think the H50 is the ideal cooler for you. All that cool air will immediately hit the the H50's radiator, keeping everything nice an cool.

Lol tbh iaint noticed that much difrence temps wise maybe 1 or 2c since ive added the duct :( but i have a feeling the heatsink isnt seated properly. JUst a cuple of questions. i have a 700w OCZ psu would that be able to support the Corsair H50-1? I think my set up is only useing around 500w anyway. Also out of intrest would i see THAT much diffrence (apart from my 3dmark06 score :D ) going to 4.0Ghz?

Aye, no problems at all. TBH, I would be surprised if your current system uses over 400W at max load - so you have plenty of headroom with that PSU. As for the power requirements of the H50, the powered parts are the pump and the fan - so less than 30W total.

Hardly any. The clockspeed increase is 4.7% and that is the maximum performance increase you can expect. Most apps and games will not even provide this increase. Also, i'm betting going u to 4GHz will require a disproportionate increase in voltage and heat - so it will likely be less stable. If you are happy with how it runs now at 3.82GHz, I would suggest keeping it there.

Tbh Im not too happy with the temps:( Its tocuhing 61 on stress test in AMD overdrive. As soon as the summer hits its easily gunna be 67c - early 70s:( Tho im sure the corsair would get it down by 10c! Maybe i should save up for the i7 -_- ive heard u see a lot more increase on gaming performance compared to AMD phenom? Then again i could just get a 2nd 5870 and hope for the best :P THanks for all your help Btw! :D

To be honest, an i7 isn't any better than a Phenom II in gaming. Have a look at this test of CPU scaling with a 5970 (close in performance to 5870 CF).

WOW!! :O 1Fps on warhead and hawk! at 3.2 and most other speeds!! on tomshardware.com you get a BIG leap in fps when it coms to GTA at 1280 res of around 12?.. it seems diffrent benchmarks diffrent fps gains :( but 99% allways show for gaming AMD is around the same for gaming!
P.s i bought the corsair last night mostly just to keep the temps down at 3.8! :D thanks for ur help CMNDR !
