I have the following on my list:

Oil + Oil Filter
Air Filter
Pollen Filter
Break Fluid Level
Coolent Level
Fuel cleaner

Do you think I should change fuel filter? Is it hard to change these? its like the silver looking canister under the bonnet sitting upright.

on diesel filters of old theyd end up collecting water, which was bad. may be worth doing if you dont know when it was done

If convenient, pick up a new sump plug and washer. If the other is 150k old it could have been on and off 10-15 times so may be a pain to get a socket on and/or have a small leak.

Do you have any history of what's been done in recent services?

I do have a list up until 117k from garages but will have to check the sheets, from this point I done the most recent 2 myself.

@ 128k Oil + Oil Filter + Air Filter + Levels + Brakes

@ 139k Oil + Oil Filter + Air Filter + Pollen Filter + Coilsprings

@ 149k *this one* I have already replaced battery, will be doing everything in the opening post to this thread, I will have to look through the older history to see what was done.

also, coolant should be done every few years. it ought to be bright pink. if its not, its worth changing

The coolent will be replaced on this service as I have a very tiny leak, im intending on using something K-Seal to do the trick, then top it up with fresh coolant.

the normal system should be water tight. i wouldnt bodge it with and additive crap. it WILL only cause you trouble in the future. it sounds like you want the car to last judging by the level of servicing your looking at doing, k seal or whatever is not your thing

Yes do the fuel filter it's not hard there is just a Knack to doing them right.

I am getting rid of the car in about 4 months, and although I dont like to do "temporary" fixes, I simply do not want to spend stupid money potentially having the collent system ripped out and sorted.

I changed the fuel filter on a 1.9 non-Turbo diesel engine a couple of years back, following the Haynes instructions, filled it with fuel, put it in place, connected the hoses, cranked the engine - nothing. Zip. Diddly-squat.

Had to have it towed to the garage, and they had to force compressed air down the fuel tank to feed the fuel through the filter.

Hope it doesnt happen to you, but you might just want to check the cost of having that done, incase it happens to you?

Now if you had put it in Gear & been towed it would have started, You think it won't because you have to tow it for a fair distance but it does.
I Never use the plaggy pump or the Battery to push it through I just do the job properly & then get my mate to tow me down Cov road behind his truck.

Cool, so when its all back in, to force fuel into the filter again put it in gear and get someone to tow you like you would if you were trying to bump start the car?

What about before changing the filter, do you have to empty the fuel tank?

Nope don't empty anything, Just get the old one off & dispose of it Properly.
Fill the new one up with Clean derv & fit it, Double check all your pipes & connections & then get somebody to tow you around the perimeter road or summit.
Stick it in Third for starters & just stick your foot Flat to the floor, Bare in mind though that it will take Ages to pull through, Like Over a mile maybe.
Once you here it splutter to start in Third then just drop to Second & jump start it up, toot your horn for the Tower to stop, Unhook & Enjoy.

This method means that the car will start First click in the mornings & not take an age to clear an air bubble you left in there through using the Other methods.

Never & I mean Never touch the rubber pumps under the bonnet as they are Never used so when you do use them they split & let air in. ;)

Trust me on this though mate as I know my old dervs.
