WoW Account Hacked Question

They got much stricker with those addons. I remember back in vanilla decursive was the big one, it made it silly, just spam it for you and the addon would do the work finding the people that could be decursed/cleansed etc and doing it all for you. Addons of course still exist. If you are a serious raider you are not going to get very far without something like deadly boss mods for example. I can understand why it annoys people it does seem silly that they design encounters expecting that players will have to use deadly boss mods and threat meters for example to be able to do them yet they are not a 'core' part of the game. For me it's no issue, being in an end game raiding guild you kind of get used to using 'necessary' mods and putting in the work to make your UI as good as possible to assist your style of play.

Fenris: Even if they're just using lua scripting, as provided by Blizzard? I'm not talking about separate executables.

I only played back at release, but looking at the amount of functions that were exposed to script developers, it was more than in any other game I'd seen. The ability to do targeting and cast spells in a script, for example, is generally not present in other MMOs I've played.

Those are macros, they can be made in game and are just a way of grouping up abilities, regardless of what they do they still require play interaction pressing a button, it just means your pressing 1 button instead of 5, they are also incredibly simple to make.

One of WoWs selling points for me is it's incredibly customisation capabilities.

But weren't they "intelligent" macros? Ie, they could branch according to NPC health; status; mana level, etc.

In other words, you could have one button press that could do any one of 10 things depending on your situation...

I been getting them too, quit about 3 months ago, they kept asking to check if my account is secure and recent one said my subcription had changed but to avoid being hacked or anything i just went to the official site where i logged in account management as usually to see my account is still frozen.

IMHO addons are absolutely the main attraction to WOW, at least for me. My first run through was in the old days without addons and that was great for discovery, but levelling after that became such a bore. Addons now make the levelling process much easier, make gathering mats so much more efficient, make the auction house so much more sensible.

The days of the automaton addons are gone really. I remember addons that did your fighting for you, did your running for you, cast spells etc (decursive is a great example). But these days addons just make things easier, not automatic. WOW is so smooth these days,a lot of the annoyances ironed out - one of my great hates was levelling after 50, honestly this time round i just BG and instance and I think ive barely touched traditional quests, theyre just so inefficient.... anyway I digress.

beware the adoon sites, apparently even the ones 'featured' on google!

To my knowledge WoW macros have never had the ability to perform actions depending on a targets hp/mana.

There has been some cases of macros going a bit too far, like the totem stomping ones for pet classes that basically let a hunter pet kill any number of shaman totems just by spamming one button but blizzard eventually done some changes to stop that (i think).

My memory isn't that bad :D The first macro I remember seeing for healing classes was one that selected which spell to cast based on the health of your target. So such capabilities existed from the beginning.

Now you mention it, i have vague memories of some qq about the addon changes in TBC that killed off the automatic decursive also killing one of the old healer addons that done roughly what you say.

I stand corrected :) In my defense i hate healing in WoW so my knowledge of anything related to it sucks :p

Update....

Got an e-mail from Blizzard stating that my suspension was due to a trojan/keylogger being detected - they have now unsuspended the account. However, within a minute of that e-mail I got another one saying that a request had been received to change my Battlenet Account Password - so someone's keeping a close eye on my account...

In the meantime I have done a clean install of Windows and will see if that makes a difference...

Thanks again for all the help and advice from you guys :)

Cheers

TC

Last night I fired the PC up again and I found an e-mail from Blizzard handing me a 3 hour suspension for "disrupting in-game chat". I of course ran every anti-virus and malware program I have on this PC (AdAware,MSE,Malwarebytes) and found nothing.

Also look at a different anti-virus solution.

I know some aren't meant to detect keyloggers due to legal software keyloggers being available, but that's still pretty slack.

Greetings An investigation of your World of Warcraft account has found strong evidence
that the account in question is being sold or traded. As you may not be aware of, this
conflicts with Blizzard's EULA under section 4 Paragraph B which can be found here: WoW ->
Legal -> End User License Agreement and Section 8 of the Terms of Use found here: WoW ->
Legal -> Terms of Use The investigation will be continued by Blizzard administration to
determine the action to be taken against your account. If your account is found violating
the EULA and Terms of Use, your account can, and will be suspended/closed/or terminated.
In order to keep this from occurring, you should immediately verify that you are the
original owner of the account. To verify your identity please visit the following

Only Account Administration will be able to assist with account retrieval issues. Thank
you for your time and attention to this matter, and your continued interest in World of
Warcraft. Sincerely, Account Administration Blizzard Entertainment

Just got this very not official email from Blizzard. Funny as my account has been frozen for the last 9 months. (Yeah I know it's a scam)

We have had a few incidents where people's accounts have been hacked. Most of them though are people that stopped playing the game, and interestingly enough a high percentage of them happened on the day exactly 3 months after the accounts was stopped. So there are some monitoring going on somewhere of dorment accounts.

Another interesting one we saw was a gamecard was loaded onto the inactive account after being hacked - this could be seen in the account history. After a complaint has been raised with blizzard all traces of the gamecard was removed from the history on the account - very strange indeed.

i found the "emcor.dll" file in my appdata temp folder yesterday, and deleted it straight away,i had the free edition of Avria installed which has served me well up until now.
I then uninstalled Avria and installed the latest version of Nod 32,i then ran intensive scans of both my HDDs and Nod found 12 different virus mostly Trojans, avria didnt pick these up at all.

I then nervously loaded up WOW and inputed my password and then entered the code from my Authenticator and was lucky this time as my account hadnt been hacked.

Not really sure how the keylogger trojan got onto my computer i had been on a few 3rd party WOW sites, as being a wow newbie ive been looking for hints tips on the game, guess i will have to be very careful in the future on what sites i visit.

Will also be paying for a subscription when the trial of NOD expires i guess it does pay to have a paid top brand subscription when AV is concerned, but theres no guarantee that NOD would have stopped this keylogger getting on my system who knows?.
