is it worth me waiting for one of these or are the ati dx11 ones ok what do you people think need to buy one this week to be honest so i think its the ati one ....as wanna use it for bad company 2.

i was thinking more on the lines of the 5870....howq is this compared to the 5850 is there much in performance wise....gonna wanna run 1920 x 1200 on the hplp2475 w...which also has a display port i think .

Check to see others responses here before buying but IMO : easily! :) That case you have (probably what I'll get at some point soon-ish) is a darn big dude by all accounts.

Yup, thought so. :) In fact I think its one of the comparatively few cases that will comfortably house a 5970, iirc, so with a 5870 you'll fine.

Yes go for the 5870 otherwise you wont get enough of a jump IMHO. 5850 is better bang for the buck but hey that's the price you pay for having the best.

Bad Company 2 DX11 is pathetic TBH it looks exactly like Dx9 :/ I think DX11 wont make it big until later this year/early next year when Nvidia's card has been released. As far as DX11 goes I cant really say I can tell the difference bar a minute amount of cheesy effects and the fact my FPS just depelets and I cant even see a graphical difference :/

How do you know, being that the game isn't released yet?

Guy speaks the truth, just completed the single player and if DX11 is used I can't bloody see it, they probably have implemented some DX11 coding in there just so they can't get done for false advertising, but it's so insignificant, it's pathetic. Just away to sell the game to PC gamers with the DX11 buzz word, but with little in the way of implementation of it, still just a 99% console port, some of the textures are PS2 quality...

Dx11 in bc2 only affects shadows making them softer\smoother. Also meant to give some kind of performance optomisation since dx11 is supposodly more effecient than 10.

I'm really looking forward to the new nvidia cards (Fermi).

That said, it's a fair bet that for general useage the high end ATI cards (5850, 5870 and 5970) will represent better value for the performance they give. Also, everything currently points to very limited stock for Fermi throughout March and maybe April as well.

Normally, this close to the release of a new card (2 weeks away now) I'd always recommend waiting to see what the performance is like, but in this case I'd say just go for the ATI. At 1920*1200 I'd say the 5870 would be ideal.
