New 27-inch UltraSharp U2711 WQHD announced.

dell1.jpg

in the words of all my favorite girlfriends i've had, over the years, "look at the size of that thing!".

you must have some special sense of perspective I don't have! From that picture it could be a 19" monitor surely? (I know it isn't obviously, but there is no reference point to guage its size)

Got my U2711 and typing this on it now :)

My initial impressions are very positive, there is no yellow tint which I can see and switching from my PC DVI input to the PS3 on HDMI takes about 2 seconds.

Haven't really had much time to game on this beast yet but am getting SCOM2 this weekend so will report back then.

As I didn't get this direct from Dell I called them to make sure the warranty was valid, they said yes so long as I filled in a transfer of ownership form available on their website. This requires the sellers details and takes about 3 weeks.

One thing for other U2711 owners, I didn't realise that there is a special dual link DVI cable which comes with the monitor. I tried using my original DVI cable from my 24"er and couldn't figure out why the picture was all fuzzy... DOH!

Could those lucky people who already got the screen report how it is in games and movie, please? I want one for myself, but play quite a lot and never used anything other than TN, so a bit concerned.

Today's the day ? I bet u can not wait, would like to know about the res switching problem of this monitor as the review said that it took up to 15sec to resync to the other res I hope this is not the case and hope u can try this out.

3-4 Secs Max

Games it kills your fps on max res,
Dirt 2 I have gone form 99-105 fps to 33-35 fps

Can't say about movies

Hello U2711 owners...

The lower price this monitor seems to be going for on the auction site has "stirred" my interest once again. I have been putting off an 27" iMac purchase till the yellow-tint screen issue has been sorted.

In the meantime I wonder if any of you guys that have a U2711 would be kind enough to do a quick test to see if it also suffers the yellow-tint issue, as it shares the same LG 8bit panel as in the 27" iMac.

I did not want to do that test in case I ended up being upset, but I did it & pleased to say it's a pass.
No yellow tint, I did it with the lights off in a dark room.

Yes in the photos they do look bendy, it must be the way my camera processes the image & the perspective that I took photo.
I have very little space to work with where my PC is.
In person it's not bendy, reminds me of the old monitors when you had to make the image square.

Still not had time to try games out.

This thread is it not doing my blood pressure any good :D

1st it was the monitor may not be covered by the Dell warranty
Then do a yellow tint test
Now bendy bezels

Making the most of it right now, daughter is sat on my lap listening to Cbeebies songs on one window, while I am trying this out in the other window loads of room.
