Mondeo Love

Just under £4k.

Could have picked up an LX/Zetec etc for probably £1k less, but they look.. not very nice!

You did the right thing mate, paid top money for one worth having.

I'd wager you'll save the "premium" you've paid compared to running a scabby one.

You've let your head rule your heart which I frequently fail at.... :o:D

Nice one.

Not understanding the lack of love for the wheels - I love mine, think they really suit the car.... but hey, personal taste :)

£4k's a bargain - I paid 7, although that was 2 years ago.

Apart from needing a new DMF and clutch (which, admitedly is a fairly big failure), mine has been absolutely flawless in terms of reliability - but £650 in non service repairs over 2 years isnt bad really!

Great looking car, was looking into thse when I was potentially having do travel a fair few more miles to work.

How do you find this compared to the ST24?

Not as quick (obviously) and i'm still getting used to the change in power delivery.

Handles better, drives smoother, less creaks and rattles (interior) and obviously MUCH better on fuel :)

Are you doing the same amount of miles as you were with the ST24? How much do you think you will be saving on fuel against the ST?

Suprised about the handling, I cant remember what the ST24 was like on standard suspension, however feels really planted with aftermarket springs and shocks.

Probably a few more miles than the ST24, MPG figures are a hell of a lot better, in "real" terms you can judge it pretty well by miles/£.

ST24 would do 40-50miles max on £10, same price per ltr in the Zetec-S it will do 3 times as many miles.

Can't really think of any drawbacks apart from not having the V6 purrr!

Ok, some better pics.

Wheel pics and the dents on the front wing are more for my reference once the re-furb has been done!

Looks great Phil. Very tidy. You enjoying it?

The rear bumper shows no signs of any sag :) Did you remove the badges?

I've had a 2005 MK3 TDCi ST for over 3 months now. Love it to bits. However, I too need to get the wheels refurbished. The trouble is not everyone repairs Diamond Cut I'm told?

Edit :- Oh and Phil, we keep buying the same cars :)

Its relatively thick foam - theres definitely less of a rattle and the turbo whine is much less noticeable with it on

Placebo, not a chance in hell you'll notice a reduction in cabin noise from the turbo, or the clatteryness by placing a peice of foam and plastic on top of the head. It's not even situated in the right place to even be a reverberation device between you and the engine.

Possibly placebo - I just remember thinking "christ this is noisier" when I ran mine with it off before
