I am going on holiday on Saturday with the girlfriend. It's only a cheapy all-inclusive type; just to get a bit of sun and relaxation.

Has anybody been? What is it like? Anything to look out for etc?

Many thanks.

I've been to Corralejo, on the northern tip of the island.

It's constantly windy, which sounds like a pain but due to the heat it's nice and cooling. When we went in July there was a hell of a lot of empty buildings due to the economy falling, which was a shame to see, but there were still a few decent restaurants etc. as you say it's just a 'cheap and cheerful' place.

If you're up on the north side, go for a walk late evening on the sand dunes and possibly the Isla de Lobos - they're really nice, apart from that - there really isn't a great deal to do :p

Spot on.

The wind gets bloody annoying after a few days though.

I visited Fuerteventura in 1994, stayed at the Tres Isles Hotel on Corralejo beach. Its a lovely Island, like tom says its very windy, you see lots of wind surfers on the water & beaches. Great sea food restaurants.

I went to Corralejo about 5 weeks ago and thought it was rubbish. It's a pretty small resort, there wasn't much going on and nowhere seemed to have any sort of atmosphere. It was also full of pensioners and Germans.

I've been to all the Canaries and wouldn't go back there. The top end of Playa de las Americas up towards Los Cristianos on Tenerife is much better.

When I went it was basically a case of chilling by the pool/ beach/ swimming all day. Self catering so all restaurant food (which I love, all inclusive is only good for unlimited alcohol). Then have a few drinks and such.

Bit of a boring holiday to be honest, theres not many sights to see.
