New car time..

Seen one with 100k on the clock, now I'm guessing as long as they are maintained the miles on these doesn't really matter.

The clio ticked over 100k Sunday so it'll probably implode on me or something this week :p

It is 100% down to who has owned it and what they did with it. I am going to be bold and state that at 170k miles my car is in better condition than probably almost any 80k mile car. I had my air intake valve out the other day to inspect - they are good for about 80-100k miles before they drop to bits and stop working.

It was in perfect working order with no signs of failing.

Very true I think, mechanically my car is running as good as it was at 30k, wheels and bodywork could maybe do with a touch up but to be expected.

Had my steering wheel recovered a while ago and it made a lovely difference, you'll be pleased with it :)

Hmm maybe a change in the summer then...

I did just presume that was how car with sports suspension were supposed to be. :o

£39.95? Damn mine was £47! You'll love it though. The other thing i'd recommend is getting the steering wheel reconditioned. I'm sending mine off tommorrow and will let you know how it goes - my expectations are basically that it'll be a brand new wheel :)

£7400 is very much top end for a 2001 330Ci. Has it got very low mileage?

Someone posted an email address to a parts manager in Lincoln on the Z4 forum.

I emailed him with a couple of queries and got a reply within minutes with prices. Sent payment over paypal at 3pm this afternoon and he replied at 3:30pm to let me know that it had been sent out 1st class recorded delivery. He seems to be Extremely cheap for pretty much everything. Current Gearkknob was a little worn on the left hand side I presume from a wedding ring, so thought I'd go for that.

Post up photos of the wheel once you get it. I used a JML Mr Clean magic eraser on my sterring wheel and its flipping brilliant! Got rid of all the shine and Im now left with a matte leather finish. Saw someone recommend it on another forum and we had one in so thought I'd give it a try.
Looks tidy. Just needs black kidney grilles and LED rear lamps imo :)

I can live without at the moment :)

The problem you get is the older they get the more and more difficult it is to be certain who has owned it and what they did with it. I've no problems at all owning an 8 year old BMW (I feel so old saying that, it was 4 when I got it!!) but I'd be very nervous about actually buying one unless I found the needle in the haystack tommo seems to have managed.

I've got one and have used it - it works really well but after a week it seems to go back to the glossy finish.

looks great, my only issue is that its silver.
if i could be assed i'd change my silver for a black!

Wait, i thought i recognised this car...

This is the one that the guy was talking about on the owners forum. Apparently it was drinking oil like it was going out of fashion? :/

Luckily for me there was a nice leather BMW pouch in the boot with unused rubber gloves and a full bottle of Castrol Edge in ;)

Only downside to it is its 3 owners. The first of which was the BMW Garage. However Im happy that its been maintained without worry of cost, judging by the brakes and tyres, the interior is spot on and from my judgement the guy seemed genuine.

Thought I'd found a little secret! Will probably treat it with some leather care this weekend and see how it goes from there. It doesn't look particularly glossy anyway I just liked the feel of the matte finish.

I was actually looking for a Silver one. Especially after the Z4... It was black and look god damn awesome when clean. But all the little swirl marks that other people probably don't notice anyway, used to really get on my nerves.

I hate you :p

I was actually a little worried. At first I thought, how the hell would he recognise a standard 330 Ci sport in silver. Then I realised the front indicators weren't standard and panicked! :o:D

I knew i forgot to put the ;) at the end...

Sorry, i'm exceptionally bored... :p

Nice car :)

I would keep it as it is - looks good in silver with the MV1s. I wouldn't bother with the LED tail lamps.

If it was mine I would do only 2 things - firstly replace the rear indicator bulbs with Philips silvervisions (don't like the current ones) and revert the front indicators to the Depo aftermarket ones or the OEM ones that you already have:

very nice car, and the photography looks superb

looks like you bagged a really nice example there

These are the current ones...

Not sure what they are but it will say on the box I've got sitting in the boot.

I hate the current rear indicator bulbs! I presumed they were the philips silvervision?!
I hate the blue tint they have to them but having never fitted silvervisions ones I just presumed thats what you had to put up with if you didnt want orange. Will get some from halfords on the way to work if they sell them.

rkjoneill - Thanks :) Not too sure about how the photos turned out really, but I had to do something with them as I'd left the camera on the wrong settings so the originals were poo :p

I normally hate aftermarket lights but they appear to fix my main issue with the way the E46 looks, those horrible opaque indicators.

Which is the best forum for help/tips etc? Seen a few but not really sure which are the better ones from having a quick scan through.
