I'm looking to get a new card but not sure what i was interested in the ATI Radeon HD 5770 card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-165-XF but whats the major difference form that to this (ATI Radeon HD 5670 1) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-224-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1673

would i notice any differences is it worth spending more on the 5770 card?

I run a Q9950 clocked to 3.5Ghz and Asus P5Q-E board with 4gig ram.

My old graphics card is a ATI Radeon X1950

Thanks.

5670 is just barely capable of running games at max out up to 1280x1024 in dx9 with playable frame rate, while 5770 is just barely capable of running games max out up to 1920x1200 in dx11 with playable frame rate.

The 5770 is a much more powerful card - but wether you would notice the difference in playing games etc depends on resolution etc played at.

In longer term Xfire is something you might like to consider. A pair of 5770's gets 'rave' reviews (personally prefer single card..... each to their own:D) and by the time you buy your second card price may be a lot less.

Overall I'd go for the 5770 - not the xfx tho - vtx @ £113 sounds a much better deal (or if your bothered about the make the Sapphire @ £125)

57xx is a mile better than a 5770 but for res's of only 1280x1024 you could get away with a 5750 but that will only save you £20 or so. Plus side is you can get good passively cooled ones.

Thanks for all your replies looks like it's a 5770 then, Lets be honest it's going to be a huge improvement from my X1950 :)

Thanks.

Depends on the game really, see here, I think it does a sterling job for the money and in the above review isn't all that far behind a 5850. Now 2 in Crossfire, wow.:D

And yes I know the above isnt DX11.

Here is Dirt2 DX11 performance.

Sigh. another genius linking 3/4 month old benchmarks using near release drivers. Makes me wonder how many people take the time to read the gains in release notes, particularly dirt 2 DX11, have been made in the past 4 months. 10.3 is bringing massive gains ontop of those.

No genius mate and I have posted on other threads re the gains from 10.3 drivers up to 25% in some cases in Dirt2. I was making the point I felt the 5770 performs admirably in Dirt2 as shown from that review and as you so sarcastically point out its now even better.:D

I still don't think DIRT 2 would be a good indicator for how well the 5770 would coup in dx11. I really think people should use benchmarks from games like AVP for better determining how well would 5770 do in FPS games.

I defend the 5770 for what it can do now in DX9,10,11. Its a mid range card that is constantly being compared to high end cards twice and three times the price. For around £110 I think it does very well and the fact Ati are still optimising drivers and getting up to 25% improvements is great. I agree its early days for considering how well it will do in future DX11 games but ultimately we can only look at how well it does now.
Best bang for buck right now in my opinion. Won't be long before Amd\Ati bring out their refresh but until then I think we will continue to see the 5770 improve.:)

Just wanting know is this weeks only HD5700 series with the Club 3D HD5770 Overclocked Edition graphics card is this any good better or not over the XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770?
