Ordered a 24-70 L today to compliment the new 5dmarkii. Can't wait for it to arrive, pics to follow when it does!

My poor 17-55 is no use anymore so I've put it up in the MM if anyones interested.

Apparently a new version is coming out soon, but thats going to retail at, wait for it....

£1999 approx

LOL, you can keep your IS.....the IS is not worth £1.2k ! I could get a 50/1.2 for that much !

Is it 1.2K? I read it somewhere that it was £1999 :o

I could put an extra £400 in and upgrade my 5D1 to a 5D2.

One of these days! I played with one last weekend. I want it :(

To make you feel better, I have a only have a 350D with a 17-50*

*and also a 5D2 with a 24-70

:p

It is a lovely lens - working really well at the moment with my 5D. I've found that it can be a little slow to focus in low light though.

You complete bar steward !

This is the combo I have been lusting after for months. Keep on following auctions hoping no-one else will have spotted it....

Just on the verge of selling my Canon 17-85 EFS and Sigma 10-20 in order to get hold of one to go with my 40D. I fully intend to go FF at some point so see this as a great first step.

I guess the big thing is resolution. Plus a boost in ISO performance, oh and a bigger screen and a more up to date digic setup.

The mk2 doesn't add anything over the mk1 though (except video). I genuinely don't see what the mk2 offers a mk1 owner.

- Increased ISO performance
- Larger/better LCD (the 5D1 LCD is poor to say the least)
- Automatic sensor cleaning (I have to regularly clean my sensor with a rocket blower, and even then it is still filthy)
- Video, as you mentioned, which I am extremely interested in
- Live View

Those are things that matter to me, but there are a few more things, such as Micro-AF adjustment, increased 98% viewfinder and of course a new DIGIC IV processor.
