Hi there I'm about to start my first home build PC and have an idea of the components and was wondering if everything looks ok and is compatible below is what I'm looking at at the minute but its open to change if needs be.

1. Cooler Master Cosmos s Case
2. OCZ StealthXStream 700w Silent
3. Intel Core i5-650 Processor (4M Cache, 3.20 GHz)
4. Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2
5. Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro Rev.2 Cpu Cooler
6. Crucial 4GBKIT (2GBx2) 240PIN DDR3 PC3-8500
7. Graphics Card
8. 320 GB Samsung HD322HJ Spinpoint F1
9. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I'm not sure what Graphics card to go for at the minute I have a Nvidia 8800gt so something a little more powerful but not to expensive and an ATI card maybe can't seem to make my mind up.

Also memory is another one I'm not sure about.

Thanks for any advice or help you can give me?

your ordering a freezer pro rev 2? good choice. i have no idea why you want the i5 650 dual core when you can get an OEM edition 750 quad core for £1 less your getting an aftermarket cooler so no reason to get a retail edition. You can OC the hell out of it and will last much much longer. expecially when games fully use multi-core cpus. it keeps the temps down on the cpu as the load is being spread across 4 cores instead of two. Its a no brainer mate.

Graphics wise what games do you play? For games atm it seems a 5850 or 5770's in xfire is the way to go. 5770 xfire is faster than 5850 by some margine for the same price as some of the 5850 cards. It may be worth while (to your pocket) to wait till fermi archicture by nvidia is released to see what happens to the prices of ATi cards. The 8800gt is still a solid card.

RAM wise ive never had a set of crucial die on me. The ram WILL work with that motherboard but its always worth checking on gigabytes website to see if the ram is on their vendors list for that particular motherboard. That will ensure that the ram runs at its full speed = higher OC for that i5 750 youl now be getting ;)

As the others have said, go for the i5 750 (quad core). The i5 650 costs about the same, is only a dual core and includes a graphics processor which you be (quite rightly) overriding.

As for the RAM, make sure that it is certified to run at 1.65V, not all are. However, unless you are getting some amazing deal on that crucial kit (or you already have it) I would instead suggest going for this kit. Its much faster and does work with i5.

Also, I would suggest going for this HDD instead. Its £5 motr, but it is much bigger and much faster (uses a single 500GB platter).

Finally, unless you are planning a multi GPU system in the future I would suggest going for this smaller capacity, higher quality/efficiency PSU.

I didn't expect so much help so quick I've just checked on the i5 750 and see what you mean so makes it a good idea.

Thanks

I play mainly driving games like Grid and Need For Speed and the odd Japanese Shoot Em Up big fan of Street Fighter aswell. I need a new card because the set up I have now is being given to my neice as a birthday present or I would have kept the GT8800.

Im not keen on going for multi GPU I prefer a single card set up good choice on the ram though :)

I must admit I'm torn between the Cosmos S Case and the Coolermaster Stacker 831 any thoughts

The Cosmos is a million times better.

The stacker is big, but it feels flimsy and cable management is made almost impossible due to the motherboard tray. Also, if you want to install all the fans you need to buy £40 of side panels and fan holders from coolermaster. The cosmos s by contrast is a sleek, well built case with plenty of room and decent cable management options.

One case you may be interested in (if you like the styling) is the HAF 932. It is just as big as the cosmos but its airflow and cable management are far superior.

Get the OEM i5 750.

For the graphics card, either get a 5770 and get another for xfire later, or my preferred suggestion would be one 5850 as you said you prefer single cards, if you want to save money then wait for Fermi to come out.

I'm sticking with the Cosmos S I like the styling of it and also going for the i5 750.

Graphics i'm still unsure I may wait for Nvidia

Thanks for the advice guys I will post picks when I start my build.
