Just a little rant.

Looked at my bank statement yesterday and saw 7 x £20 payments coming out of my account from a company called Lycamobile. I've never heard of them but after some googling it turns out they're a PAYG mobile network based in Belgium!

I was quite annoyed but thankful in the fact that I spotted it early and they didn't completely wipe out my bank. I Rang Lloyds who cancelled my card and are going to get my money reimbursed.

I've got a couple of monthly payments that come out on the first of the month, they have been paid this month. Will I need to update my new card with the companies? I know direct debits will still come out. I'm unsure about my O2 contract though, can't remember if that was direct debit or if they just used my card. Any help will be much appreciated!

Anything coming out monthly would be direct debit I would have thought, I haven't ever changed anything when I had to cancel my card due to fraud.

O2 should be a direct debit, always has been with the various mobile and Internet contracts I've had with them. It sounds like you card has been cloned and they were testing it with the phone topup. It's a very common trick used to test stolen cards, you might have seen the threads about the O2 one.

Even things such as Spotify and Astraweb?

Yeah, I just looked at the direct debits that come out and O2 is one of them.

You may have to change some that don't though mate. I had a similar issue last year when my card was cloned, and I was then received emails from o2 for non payment, which I contacted them about and explained the situation, had been using the same card for about 3 years to make payments, and hadn't actually set up a DD. So just be wary.
