The service light on the X5 popped up today. I thought before I double checked the log book that it needed an oil service, but it does need an inspection 1.
So I've been ringing round and started with the Indy BMW Specialists because the last time I checked the sytner website, the BMW Value service 'promise' was that they'd match any Indy that is advertised in the yellow pages as a BMW Specialist. The website no longer says that and I've only phoned 2 sytner dealers yet, and am working my way round other midlands dealers but prices so far are around £350! I don't have a problem with that per se, but the common price on teh internetz says nearer £250 from a dealer.
:(

I know its not helpful...

But I can't believe you own an X5 and are worried about spending and extra £100 lol :P

Why wouldnt he want to save £100?

What a stupid thing to say. I doubt if it was £350 instead of £250 it would be the end of the world for him but if there is an opportunity to pay less then why not?

X5 is not exactly a cheap vehicle... I just find it a little funny that someone spends 10s of thousands on a vehicle thats not cheap to run or maintain and is worried about spending an extra £100 it just doesn't compute with my vision of the typical owner.

He's not talking about buying some Tesco oil and getting bob the backstreet garage to service it for him, he wants to know how to pay BMW less money for the same service.

Who WOULDNT want to know that?

I've never once paid advertised price for anything BMW do for me, is that because I'm a cheapskate?

I'm not saying theres anything wrong about it... lol...

Its just not the first car I'd imagine someone driving if they were quibbling over paying an extra £100.

Just because you can afford to buy expensive cars doesn’t mean that you’ve stopped looking after money.

As I said in my OP, I don't have a problem with £350 for a service - it's what I'll be expecting to pay for an Inspection 2. Who in their right mind wouldn't save £100 for nothing at all? I'm not saying I'm going to go to Kwik Fit or even an Indy, so I don't get what your problem is?

Thanks for the link Fox.

I didn't mean anything peresonally, not sure why some people have to make a big deal out of it... I just find it hard to get my head around due to the perceived X5 status. I'm not against people saving money lol.

i agree with fox, who wouldnt want to save £100 on any car, even if I had £1million in the bank and owned a veyron I would still shop around for servicing
