Even if it isn't fully shielded, provided you don't put any data storage too close to it, it should be fine, it wont effect an LCD like speakers used to effect the old CRT's.

Haven't had any interference. Saves a lot of deskspace this way and it acts as a nice stand for the monitor.

Bedroom/desk setup at the moment. A Mac Mini would be perfect but the Macbook does pretty much the same job for now.

^ regarding the sub, I was talking about its distance to the harddrives and the like not the monitor, is that too close? i always get over cautious with magnets and data

Its alright except I need to sort something out where the Macbook is, I can't stand there I have to bend down to get to that little section.

Bit of an update since I moved my pc to the other side of the desk and swapped my monitor over, now my desk looks a lot bigger

How do you go about using speakers that require traditional speaker cable with a pc? Do you have everything hooked up to an AV Receiver or something?

I just use a jack lead directly into my surround sound amp
