Oh my...I think I have just seen a UFO (bad pics inc - 56k dont bother)

Osprey? Do those things fly about the UK? I.e any bases? At least consistent with some of the description. I did see an Apache over Chertsey in Surrey a year or two back!

All aircraft have red and green steady Nav lights on either wing tip Green is left Red is Right. The flashing Red was more than likely the anti Collision light this is usually Red when on the ground and for take off but switched to a clear white strobe whilst Flying. The red is so it does not blind ground crew and other aircraft whilst on the ground..

Are you sure that's the right way round? I only wonder as ships have the red on theleft (port) and green on the right (starboard). I'd expect aircraft to be the same.

Looking from the Front of an Aircraft the left is Green the Right is Red. Its the same as ships. Red is Port Green is Stbd if looking from the rear or forward in the fuselage..

Ahh, makes sense now. I always take it as being inside the boat looking out (as that's where I usually am), not looking front on, so it would be the opposite with port and starboard still being the same. :)

Hmm interesting. I didn't think it could be a UAV but it seems most likely if not a large heli with a really loud engine doing bloody all in skies! :O

hmm nearest RAF base that I know about near me is church fenton...i go past the area when going to work. Presume it's still active. Only reason why I saw something was because it was that loud. Windows closed and it wasn't faint either. A really deep but muffled noise. Time to have a gander at the base! *loads up Ak47 and camera with a huge lens*. :P
