GT200's Vs 4800's Market-share Nvidia 35% ATi 65%

Also to compare the 200's vs 4800's

You would have to add all the figures from the nvidia 200's cards together
GTX 260
GTX 275
GTX 280
GTX 285
GTX 295

Yeah the 8800GT has been the biggest earner for nVidia by far... think those figures must be a little off somewhere tho as the 260 has sold almost as well as the 4870 and 4890 combined on its own according to figures from elsewhere and the GPGPU market usually go for the 240SP cards so I'd assume most of that is for gaming. Tho I guess the 4850 has probably sold well enough to offset the 240SP and dual card sales.

EDIT: Yes it does but if you include 4850 sales that muddles things as then really you should include 8800GTS(G92), 9800GTX and 250GTS figures in the nVidia side - which pushes its to roughly 12% against 8.16%.

Hey Rroff, any sauce to go with that?

What???
Rroff, I'm just comparing the last gen with the last gen...
I'm not sure I understand your point?

Also how long was GT200 out before RV70?

The 4800 figures include 4850, 4870, 4870X2 and 4890 users.

Your 200 series figures are missing the nVidia equivalent cards to the 4850 - which I'm guessing from some rough sales figures make up a large part of the 4800 series number in the survey.

Yes Rroff and also the 4830...
Guess you have a point, put all have have done is compared 5 last gen cards with 5 last gen cards.
But yes Ati's selection does creep further into the midrange.

Can't see any GTX 7800/7900 cards in that Hardware Survey

Surely there most still be a load of people with them cards

EDIT: OK i see them now :o

The surveys started to become a bit meaningless since the end of last year IMO - someones been grouping hardware badly invalidating many results and some key card groups seem to be entirely missing.

What you're forgetting though is that the 4850 uses the same GPU as the 4870 and 4870X2.

The GTS250 doesn't use the same GPU as any real GT200 series so it's not really comparable at all, it's an old gen GPU moved up a few numbers.

A GTS 250 isn't REALLY a 200 series GPU.

^^^
It's ok Rroff the 7800/7900 have been found.
While the survey may not be perfect, it does at least give us an indication on what is going on...
Do you have any other references to statistics that contradict steam?

put all have have done is compared 5 last gen cards with 5 last gen cards.

Is dyslexia a requirement for being an ATi fanboy now?

"put all have have done" - seriously, that one's going on the wall.

Also, needing to use made-up, parameter-fixed figures from a voluntary online survey would suggest that this thread has no point, rhys216.

What is it with your threads and pointlessness? Definitely seems to be the recurrent theme, hmm...

Thats not the point... you need to compare cards that are in the same price/performance bracket if your going to compare like this - so either you have to take the 4850 figures out or include all cards that nVidia make that are in the same price, performance and date ballparks.
