PS3 Slim Cases?

I have a ps3 slim and the damn fan noise drives me mad.

I remember a while ago that lian li had a replacement case for the xbox 360.

Does anybody know if anything exists for the PS3.

Alternativily has anybody taken apart the ps3 and placed it in modded htpc case?

If a pre built case doesnt exist then I may go down thsi route.

My PS3 slim is usually very quiet, especially compared to my old launch console. Even when using it as a Blu-Ray player on quiet scenes I can't hear the the console, but I sit about 12ft from the console and its on a TV stand so lots of cool air gets to it, especially with my Onkyo amp getting repaired under warranty at the moment :-(

I haven't heard of any new cases to house a PS3 so you would have to go the custom route.

Some seem to be louder than others, also its very subjective, read enough of these threads (there are many of them around regarding the slim fan noise) and you'll come across cases where someone complaining about it has had a friend say they can't hear it at all and vice versa.

My slim is louder than I expected, it reaches its peak after about half an hour of being on but even then it is quieter than my 60gb fat was and doesn't get louder in games, there is a high pitched whine to the fan noise which I assume is what is driving some people mad rather than the overall noise.
 
Yeh the fan ramps up to full after about 15mins of gaming, it just annoys me as I have to turn up the sounds pretty high just to drown it out.

Blu Ray only is not so bad, I can still hear it on the sofa but I can just about cope with it.

I may crack it open and see if there is anything I can do to help silence it.

I can imagine it being a nightmare trying to find a sff case which has mounting holes for the ps3 board.
 
I thought all Slims would be whisper quiet, not like the variation in the original 'fat' consoles.

Glad the loudest thing in mine is the drive :)

i got a 250gb slim a couple days ago, sound diffference from my 80gb fat ps3 is amazing.
 
Never had a fat to compare it with. Guess these things are all relative, but compared to my pc it sounds like a fog horn.
 
Are you normally sensitive to fan whine ? My slims noise level is allegedly fairly low as measured by an app on my ipod touch (obviously not going to give accurate measurements but allows me to compare relatively) but it still seems fairly loud to my ears.

Yes I think I am sensitive to it, I am one of those crazy people who once they hear the sound of it my brain kind of attenuates itself and can't let itself go.

It's took me 3 years (and much money) to get my pc silent enough for me.

Maybe I'm bored and just looking at an excuse to take my ps3 apart...
