Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 Sound Card

I have bought this card and currently using 5.1 surround sound set up.
I play games and some of the extra updates say specifically for gaming. Are they worth getting? Would a headset and mic also fit in the remaining jacks?

Yes, I am sure that they would. But... only buy them if you need/want them!

with all this new motherboard coming out now, do we really need to still buy external soundcard??? or would that be overkill????

u tend to get basic models of sound cards unless they r in conjuction with one of the big brands.
ive never used external cards, probably because if never sli'd and had room for internal.
its always nice to have some decent sound
