8800GTS SLI worth getting?

Hi there, was wondering if spending around £100 for a pair of 8800 gts 512 in sli worth getting from my mate or should I just get one ati 5770? My budget is around £100.

Any thoughts most welcome

5770, GT's only have 512mb of memory and todays demanding games just need a bit more than that.

Buying a single 5770 would be better than getting 8800GTS sli.

8800 GTS SLI - waste of money, been there done it, was ok for couple of months, then newer games come out and was useless.

go for newest ATI card you can get for your money or save more

Chances are you would be better off buying whatever your friend is about to buy or has already purchased.

Yea I would go with one 5770, then crossfire it later if you have the cash, should see you over for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I've seen a few benches where 8800gt sli is comparable to gft 280. So I'm thinking £100 for a gtx 280. Warped assessment or maybe a bit of a bargain?

Unfortunatly the lack of VRAM will hold them back in the latest titles at anything over 1680x res unless you scale settings back.

i went from 8800 GTS to a single GTX 285, can safely say that 8800GTS sli has nothing really on my card, epecially on the latest of games

i know its hard but save your money, learn from others mistakes lol
