Earlier last year Guru3D was already informed about the fact that BFG Tech's Europe division was not performing well enough in a saturated and difficult market.

As such last year the decision was made for BFG to pull out of the European market and focus on North America.

You guys probably have noticed that if you where on the market for a BFG card in the EU that they where really hard to find.

Yesterday we received notice from the BFG EU press department that they have left BFG as a result of this, making this a somewhat formal announcement. BFG will no longer be active in the European Market.

It is still unclear how current warranties and upgrade programs are affected by this.

You cant offer a lifetime / 10 year no quibbles warranty and expect people not to abuse it, and that is basically what has happened imo.

I wonder how many cards were deliberately made faulty by owners looking to get a free upgrade.

They made their most cash on things like 260-295gtx, those have not been in production since October, you can't go 5 months without selling much of anything and survive. As they, and Evga and a couple others were just really trying to break into the UK/Euro market they were more an enthusiast brand than full range including the large volume sales of low end cards, they just aren't selling those in Europe, while in the states they sell a lot of those types of cards.

Any company will struggle when the bulk of things it sells, simply isn't in production, considering Fermi is set for miniscule supply its not going to save them, we knew several partners were in the process of shutting down European supplies, for well, 6 months.

This.

They were applauded for their generosity and high level of customer service, but it killed them in the end.

Shame they didn't just replace like for like, as they used to. Free upgrades for cards which are faulty is asking for trouble.

A mate of mine sent an 8800GT back to BFG as it was faulty.......he only went and got a GTX 280 OC back off them.
Shame really as being a genuinely good company instead of **** one, has made them effectively pay the ultimate price. :(
I'll have to keep my 280 OCX in memory of BFG. :(
