Batman Arkham Asylum 3D

If its the tech that Disney were showing at a recent press event in Birmingham 'to bring 3d to the masses with no new sets required' for their games/DVD's then it uses clear-ish green tinted glasses.

I'm actually looking forward to it, hopefully it will be like avatar 3D but we all know its not likely lol

Oh wow thats a surprise and a half. An attempt at 3d without the price tag, even if its only half as good it will still be a bonus. :)

I was under the impression that it's done pretty much the same way avatar was done, and most modern 3D movies.

Several layers laid closer together than the old 80s standard, picked up by specialized glasses.

I mean there isnt another way to do it without buying a new 3DTV set. It's always going to require the viewer wearing something, otherwise there's no way for it to appear 3D lol

3d the way avatar 'did it' would require a 3d TV though, this wont.

How do you figure? avatar did it with glasses and multiple layers, the same way its always been done.

Only thing avatar did different was it was filmed from the outset to be 3D in a new specialized way.

The bluray version of avatar will be 3D, and not require the set to be 3D to watch it.

High refresh rate is needed for active shutter glasses.

Cinema system with the grey glasses are basically the same as the old red/green systems except they use polarised filters rather than colour filters (in very simple terms).

For it to work on a standard TV it will have to resort back to the colour method as far as I know, as a normal TV cannot polarise light nor can they refresh fast enough for an active system.

Ah, its the definition of a "3DTV" that's getting me mixed up.

I've seen screens that do 3D without the need for glasses, not TVs with higher refresh rates. :)

Well, we hope you North American readers didn't rush to your local game emporium to pre-order the "Game of the Year" edition, as you probably would have gotten laughed at. Warner Bros. confirmed to Joystiq that Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition -- with the 3D feature -- is only coming to Europe, Asia and Australia.

lol @ GOTY Edition... I can think of one, maybe two sites which awarded BAA that honour :p

3D would be cool if they added it in a patch/DLC, but I'm certainly not going to go and buy another copy of the game for it!

I wonder how much they're going to charge - surely not another £40 RRP? I want to pick it up for £20 or so...
