Just learned that my brother in law (who I don't like or get on with) has been taking my 7 year old nephew out to feed the ducks down the local canal.

While my nephew feeds the ducks my **** of a brother in law shoots and kills them to feed his ferrets!

He uses the ferrets to catch rabbits!

Now I don't have a problem with reporting this loser to the relevant authorities he bullies my nephew into help gut the pigeons and ducks he shoots! He calls my nephew names like (poof, wimp, wuss) if he doesn't help him.

For some reason unknown to myself or my parents my sister loves this douche. What are my options? What can I do?

Edit: He is using and Air Rifle.

Your brother in law sounds like scum tbh :(

As said, RSPB/A, police and hit up child services as well, maybe it will teach him a lesson... although I doubt it.
 
I'm guessing he is shooting on public land.
They are out of season.

The list goes on...

The police will be interested in the firearms offences.

With the exception of particularly powerful examples, air weapons do not usually fall under the control of the Firearms legislation. However, offences may be committed if they are discharged close to a public place and a danger to the public is evident.

Which means that on your own land you may shoot:

BIRDS: (covered by the open general licences) crows, rooks, jackdaws, magpies, jays, woodpigeon, collared doves, feral pigeons.

You make it sound like teaching kids to hunt and gut is terrible. It is a good thing. They'll appreciate what meat is and where it comes from. You sure you hatred of killing animals isn't tainting your view?

You can kill rabbits as they are classed as vermin.

You can also kill ducks but I would have thought they would have a season and license?

What is he using to shoot when a kid is in front of him?

there's also the issue that you need land owners permission.

What would you consider a reasonable age to teach your children to hunt and kill animals?

should have mentioned in the OP I will edit in a second that he is using an Air Rifle.

Shooting them is a bit excessive but throwing a bucket water at them or hosing them down is acceptable in my eyes. How else will the cats know to not **** in gardens ?

In most of Europe like Italy they see it from a very young age, it does them no harm at all. In fact they are far better of than most of us who see it as packaged food.

I didn't say anything on that, I was commenting on one part as it seems most of the issues stems from that.
