hey everyone.
looking to buy some RAM for my new build, someone suggested this make of RAM a few days back, but checking on the shop ive come across this:

both sets of RAM are by the same company, same price, same everything but look. am i missing something really obvious or are they just aesthetic differences?

The first set you linked to was tested on socket 775 setups, ie X48, X38 & p45 chipsets as this memory may require a higher voltage to operate, the 2nd set labelled Sector 5 will work on P55 range ie the i series cpu's from Intel.

I bought the RAM in the first link for my latest build which has an i5 and a Gigabyte P55 Motherboard and works fine.

The "5" in Sector 5 means it's been tested with the P55 chipset.

whats the max voltage you can put through this memory?

im having probs getting my i7 stable at 4ghz, temps are not a problem.

for 24/7 use I would not go past 1.7V on an i5 or i7. The recommended max is 1.65V
