Hi guys.

Very simple question. I've seen PS3 VGA Leads on a certain site for £18. It says they are wii and PS3 compatable.

If I purchased one of these leads, could I use it with my 22" HD Monitor?

Cheers

I just had a look at what I think you are talking about and it seems like it will work. Though I'd try and find a review as there are some concerns over quality in the user reviews. Hard to say what it's like though without seeing one.

It's the Same way you'd hook one up with an xbox 360 really, was just wondering if you could get one for PS3.

From the reviews they seem very
mixed... Would be nice if some one here had experience with them.

Cheers

Easiest way to do this with ps3 is with a dvi splitter. Plug your ps3 in using a hdmi to dvi adapter that goes the splitter, pc dvi goes to splitter. then cable from splitter to pc dvi port.

Just switched between them at a press of a button and 1080p digital quality. They cost 10 quid. if needed I can post details or pictures of setup. I tried an expensive cable that claimed to do all 3 I couldnt get the right colors on my dell but your welcome to have it for the price of a jiffy if you dont want to go the splitter way and your monitor has component it wasnt cheap either.

Hi guys. My monitor is 22" and it is HD it just doesn't have an HDMI slot, only a VGA Port.

So if I was to purchase one of those adapters it should work ok?

Is it HDCP compliant though? If it's not then you're not going to get very far.

What make/model of monitor is it?

Meh, how do I know if my monitor is HDCP compliant? It's an AOC 22" so it's a budget make but like I say it does support a full HD res.

Any ideas?

Cheers

I tried this by using a HDMI to DVI convertor and it refused to go above 1024x786 on my 2407WFP.

Even if it fully worked, I'm not sure how you're supposed to get sound from it.

I plugged in my PS3 via HDMI into my U2410, just to test motion on the thing while watching a bluray.. I couldn't seem to correct the stretched aspect ratio from 16:10 back down to 16:9.

Admitedly didn't spend too long looking for an answer since i have my much better Panasonic Plasma to hook my PS3 back upto.

But would like an answer, what do you guys do if you have a 16:10 monitor hooked upto a PS3?

Well I still cannot get the PS3 working on my monitor

I'm using a HDMI cable going into a HDMI to DVI converter. The monitor is DVI-HDCP. But when I plug in the PS3 and turn it off the monitor displays "image not supported" but its HDCP compliant???

This is annoying me...

Could the HDMI to DVI converter be the issue? One of these

It might be. Have you tried holding down the power button until it resets the display options? I have a spare hdmi to dvi cable about somewhere if you want it, email in trust.

I have done the holding the power button thing down it didnt work :(

Have trust message'd you :) Thanks

My PS3 is hooked up to my PC monitor via HDMI, a Samsung 26" SyncMaster 2693HM and because it is a 16:10 ratio, I have to deal with a stretched vertical image. Luckily on the games I have, it doesn't bother me too much. The monitor does have an AV Mode option in the OSD to at least make it look 16:9, but it's basically just an overscan mode that makes the screen image zoomed in slightly and with the left and right sides slightly cut off, not really useful if there is a game that has a lot of HUD information at the edges of the screen.

So yeah, moral of the story is get a 16:10 PC monitor that can display 16:9 images fully with black borders and without stretching from the source i.e. the whole pixel mapping malarky.

Same as above, I managed to get a HD Monitor which uses HDMI and surprisingly it does have speakers but I've got my own plugged in to enhance the sound

My viewsonic 28" PC monitor is 16:10, but in it's menu's has a 16:9 option that puts little black bars top and bottom to natively display a 1080p/720p signal, you'd think any hdmi 16:10 monitor would do something similar.

When sing VGA leads, AFAIK HDCP isn't a feature of VGA is it? so I'd be interested to see how the PS3 handles it..
