Hi guys,

I'm looking for a cheap multi-vitamin shake that I can have once/twice a day to help supplement my diet as I don't always eat that well plus I'm a vegetarian so looking to try and get a some extra vitimins/(protein?) in me, I was having Slim-fasts shakes with fresh bananas blended in with ice but after doing a search on here it seems it's not really recommended ?

Here's a good one.

Buy some fruits, and eat them!

I've just saved you lots of money, what do I get?

That is good advice of course, and I do have fruit, maybe not as much as I should but I'd still like to know what multi-vitamin shakes there are out there that I could also add to my diet, since I've been having the Slim fasts regularly I have been feeling a bit healthier but I'm not sure how good they are for you ?

Edit -

To explain further truth be told I would like a bit more weight on me, since having the slim-fasts in conjunction with my normal diet I have put on a bit of weight and people have said I look better for it and I feel better also, I've tried eating more food before to help gain weight but that doesn't seem to help.

A slimming drink is food, so you are in fact eating more food. Just an expensive low calorie option.

If you want to gain more weight drinking a 'slimming' drink is going to be low in calories.

You need calories, so ditch the expensive slimming drinks.

A pint or so of milk a day could be an option for putting on weight. Increasing your portion sizes is the other option.

A good diet elimates the need for vitamin & mineral supplements as you get enough of them from your food! It also saves you money!

Post your diet up and we'll be better clued up as to how we can help.

Be as accurate as you can. Not 'Chicken & Veg' or 'Some eggs'. For each item how many? how it it cooked? any sauces etc

Can't gain weight by eating? Have you got norovirus or something? Check that food is going in the right orafice otherwise it'll have to be inverse liposuction.

For a multi-vitamin shake I'd get a milkshake from the supermarket and use it to down a vitamin tablet.

I wasn't being 'literal', yes I can put weight on by eating more but I have to eat a ridiculous amount of food and even then I barely put anything on and it comes off very easily, I know nothing about this subject so maybe it's a fast metabolism or something ?, when I was younger people as always astounded by the amount of food I could eat without putting it on, many people said when I reached my 30's things would change but that hasn't been the case yet.

Anyway like I said in my other post I have been using slim fast shakes with full fat milk and bananas with my normal diet which usually consists of,

Breakfast : Orange juice, a large boil of cereal with sliced banana.

Lunch : Pasta salad or pasty/sandwich, crisps, cake & a soft drink.

Dinner : A large mixed vegetable or Spinach curry, white rice + nan bread (I have this 5 days a week)

Tea : A average sized curry, usually dhal (lentil) curry (no oil), and white rice.

I usually try to have at least two pints of ice water through the course of the day although I normally have more tbh.

And then when I get home I normally have a couple of pints of lager and sometimes snack on some jaffa cakes or something similar.

I'm not sure if that is considered a lot, I'm not sure how much I weigh but people say that I'm quite thin, although the shakes seem to of helped me put on a bit of weight recently, about a stone, probably the full fat milk has helped more than the anything tbh.

stop drinking the beer for a start.

also, seriously, you arent eating enough / training hard enough / resting enough.

getting big really is simple, getting big with lean mass is harder, but the process is no less simple.

A question: what are you trying to achieve?

Well at the moment you only seem to be increasing your body-fat percentage mate. If you want to genuinely get 'bigger' then you need to grow some muscle. At your size though, it's very easy (or so I hear).

Also: crisps and cake everyday? That's not good for you!

I just want a bit more weight on me but evenly distributed, I have a small beer belly now but that's about the only place I seem to gain weight atm :o, I don't really exercise but then I've not really felt I needed to as I've always been quite thin.

ok, first thing, get into the gym and start doing some exercise. forget shakes and stuff like that, just get exercising.

I can do that, I have a friend has asked me to go with him to the gym before that I can hook up with but dropping the beer and shakes etc and exercising I'm going to turn into a skinny healthy person no?, obviously being healthy is cool but the skinny part not so cool?, or is that not really important at this stage?

you seem to not understand what you want.
you want to gain size, but not fat, yet dont want to actually work at building some lean mass?

That's cool mate, I'm not sure how the bodyworks in regards to exercising and gaining body mass etc so yes I am a little confused sorry dude, so your saying that if I drop the beer and shakes etc and exercise I can gain some lean mass even though I'm already quite thin ?

Edit -

I'm not sure now tbh, perhaps I need to rethink this, I think I may need to research this a little more, end of the day all I want is just more weight on me that is evenly distributed, now I had a friend like me a few years back that also found it very hard to put weight on and he started exercising regularly, doing weights etc, and although he did become quite well toned he was still very thin, I don't really want that I want to be bigger.

Anyway thanks for help mate.

Fella, have you read Gordy's sticky?

Honestly, if you want to get bigger just hit the free-weights at the gym for a while and carry on eating a lot. Stop when you get to the size you want to be.

Just going through the sticky now, ****ing brilliant tbh, should have read that first really, cheers.

Edit -

Very educational that sticky, a lot I didn't know, simple things like "Your muscles do not grow while you are lifting weights. They grow while you are resting", I really didn't realise resting was such an important part of muscle development.

Dude, hopefully you stop this! :) 2+ pints an evening? Forgetting about fat/fitness, doesnt this have some serious implications in regards to diseases/heart conditions?
