16-bit picture quality on Internet browsers?

Trying to sort a machine out, i've cleared the dozen or so viruses, but for some reason the images in internet explorer, firefox and opera all appear to be 16-bit (ish)

Regular photographs that are loaded form a memory card are fine, just internet images.

Any ideas?

edit, machine is running vista 32bit, geforce 6150, 1440x900 (changing res has no effect)

Good pointer, turns out the fob thingy has a system to degrade images to increase the surfing speed.

Looks like you've sorted it, but this is for people that don't use the connection client from T-Mobile.

I use the Modify Headers addon for Firefox to do the same thing, just add the following to get unaltered images.

Name: Cache-Control
Value: no-transform
