AMD shows working phenom ii x6 thuban

They say its supported by 890 Mobos.

It's running at 2.8Ghz, and older motherboards should be able to use it with a Bios update.

I'd say it should be fairly easy to get these over a measly 3Ghz, hopefully to atleast 3.5Ghz.

Great for folding and crunching on WCG.

All depends on price now. Better start saving they'll be out in April.

i wont say the x6 wont be useless in games from what i heard the thuban has a feature that powers down the extra cores not in use and increases the speed on the cores that are in use.

Should clock well, but AMD wont have pushed them as they like to try keep the heat/power under a certan limit for stock lol.

Just give it a nice cooler and watch it fly :)

I really hope they work with existing Motherboards- I have a 790GX chipset so hope the new Upgrade would be a CPU and not everything al over again and then a reinstall

I just hope they work with the 700 series chipsets. If not then I'll just wait for the new ones that kicks in with bulldozer.

whats the ETA on this?

Q2, which means proberly June/Summer time

disapointing imo to show working models, AMD should have known ages ago that intels 6 core is already on sale so there behind the competition, they really needed too be releasing it before or soon after.

Im sure when AMD do release it, its gonna be affordable at least which on its own is the biggest +
