Hi All,

I have not long got the above mentioned game and was interested to know if my GFX card needs upgrading

I soon understood that in order to run any AA in this game you need to be running either Vista or 7, I had originally installed it under XP which ran it fine but without AA.

I then installed the game under Win 7 64 bit and the game doesnt run very well at all. As per my sig my comp isnt too bad and I thought my GTX 280 should be able to handle it. Its well choppy even with x2 AA and so much so that when I came out of the game Windows 7 reported that it had detected that my comp was struggling and did I want to turn off Windows Aero lol?

Im running the latest Nvidia drivers and wondered if my card just aint cutting it anymore?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Krib

Hi all thanks for the replies, the RES is 1920 x 1200, I also noticed that I could only select that res with 59Hz not sure if ths correct?

In terms of the drivers they are Win 7 64 bit 196.21

Any thoughts

Although im not sure if its related, its in the actual game and not the desktop that it only gives me the option to select 1920 x 1200 @ 59hz

Ultimately though the game still runs terribly :(

Just looking at it actually, I see that in Win 7 its set to 59hz and I cant change it, I guess the 59hz bit relates to that.

Still, the game runs like crap???

I'm running a gtx280 (back at stock, not speeds in my sig) and an i7 860 at 3.8. At 1920x1080 during online play I'm getting between 55-95 FPS according to fraps. All settings maxed, 16xaf, 4xaa HBAO off.

Something definately seems to be up.

Are you sure you're not overlooking something minor, like accidentally forcing masses of AA?

Running it on a stock (at the moment) i7 with an 8800gt, res at 1920x1200 on medium, plays pretty well, fraps maxing out at 50fps, dips down to the 30's in parts. Hopefully getting a new vid card this week.

I explained the 59hz issue in the bbc2 thread, do not worry is nothing to worry about it's just windows 7 displaying your hz frequency different to other operating systems.

Also i would suggest turning hbao off for a good fps increase and also there's a fix in the setting file where it says "RenderAheadLimit" change the value to 0 it is probably set at 2.

Thanks for this :D

AA only seems to correctly work if you re-adjust your resolution which is the same to make v-sync work, i.e if you originally play 1920x1200 then load up the game switch to some random resolution then back to 1920x1200 and it should be fine.

Hope they patch it soon as it's annoying having to do that all the time.

Also hbao doesn't seem to do much so i keep it off for about 20fps more or so.

it runs fine on my computer with vista all on max at 1600*1200 with no AA 4AF HBAO on (spec in sig)

my 4850 only has 512meg

Hi

I was having issues with this game also, the intro movie was stuttering etc and couldn't figure it out , I ran task manager and launched the game and noticed that my AV software went nuts as soon as the game lunched , so I killed the process and the stuttering went.

I am using Sophos , not sure what problem it has with the game , still have to fix it , but it might be worth disabling your AV and launch the game to see if its the same problem....... just a suggestion.
