I'm looking for the 3 items above, all for around £160. I already have all the other parts necessary to build this system, so I was wondering what specs you guys would come up with for this budget. I have already put something together for myself, and was wondering what someone else would suggest.

Many thanks

Michael.

A bit lacking on the RAM front but here's mine:

Very much along the same lines as I had thought. As I get free delivery, I came up with this...

Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-US2H 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard

AMD Athlon II X2 Dual Core 250 3.00GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail

Corsair Value Select 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Memory Module (VS2GB1333D3 G)

This comes to £163. Can this be topped for the price?

Yes!
It can!
Swap the board for a MSI 770-C45 (much much better, more easily upgradable in the future)
Athlon II X2 250 (as already suggested)
Corsaid Value Select 2GB DDR3 PC3-10666C9 133MHZ RAM (as already suggested)

Yeah, for that price bracket, I dont think you'll find much better here...

4GB ram would set you back another 20-30 quid, and looking at the intel route, the cheapest I3 with MB comes in at £160 without your ram.

Only way to get better would be to browse the MM.

Yeah, a second hand system with a Core 2 Duo (E2180, E4300) or so would be as powerful as the Athlon set up but would allow you more RAM.

I've ordered the X2 250, 2GB of DDR3 (plenty for my sister's use) and the MSI 770-C45 motherboard. Total price £152.

Thanks guys

Michael.
