Has anyone on here actually used these?

Been offered £3195 for a 55 plate Renault Megane 1.6 VVT DYNAMIQUE 3dr with 37k on the clock, FSH with 5 owners. Which to us sounds quite reasonable, well thats if we don't manage to sell it on Pistonheads after 2 weeks.

Its Carshaft isn't it? So has anyone got any info on how quick it is or if they mess you about or anything? I have read a few reviews which seem quite positive, but you don't actually know who's writing these do you.

Yes, 2 cars. They were fine. They tried to haggle down on the price they'd give you so just hold your ground, unless its justified like damage or lack of history. Other than that it's a pretty painless way to dispose of a car. Obviously you don't always get good value, but it's a lemon you're getting rid of or they give you a quote that's comparable to a part-ex price. The best way is obviously to sell privately but that's the price you pay for convenience.

That seems to be what they generally offer. Out of curiousity I checked what they'd offer for my Boxster and it was about £5k less than what I sold it for.

Apparently, they lure you in with a tempting offer, then alter the offer price once they've seen the car in person (nothing wrong with that). This they do in the hope that you cbf to call the deal off and accept their revised price for the sake of closing the deal, so don't necessarily expect to get the sale price that they've initially quoted.

They also control your mind subliminally with the most annoying radio / TV adverts known to humankind.
 
Its the mothers car. She has despised it since the first week of ownership, so she just wants shut of it to get another car as soon as possible.

Will try Pistonheads first, though she is happy enough with the price from WBAC.

This is to be expected really, i wouldn't budge from what they offered online.

The price they are offernig you is almost £1000 less than the trade money it'd fetch at auction and at least £1500-£2000 less than you could hope to sell it for privately.

You are being conned.

I will buy it off you for more than We Buy Any Car.
 
Whilst it isn't a good price, nobody is being conned. They're offering a service, and the price difference is the cost of it.

It was a repossessed car.

Bank took it back from 2nd owner, then a repo tradesman bought it, then us. Only cost £3700 so not that much of a loss really.

Though Fox your on to something there, not actually thought about putting it through BCA (not bad to say i go to one nearly every friday). Would be about £300 to put it through i think, hmmm will look into that now.

We buy any car will put it through their local BCA Auction, they have a huge contract with them and put thousands if cars through weekly nationwide.
 
£6,750 for my car, £250 more than a Ford dealer offered me for it last year!

(I know it's worth more than that)
 
It is a service at the end of the day, and fortunately you don't have to accept the price - just a way for people to dispose of vehicles with minimum fuss :)

I think people need to remember (not here, obviously, in real life & on 'negative' forums) that you don't have to sell to them :D

Obviously you're going to get some staff from time to time who try and rip you off, kick you in the nuts over the price or aren't very pleasant to deal with, but not much can be done about that :)

One thing that gets me is you always see people saying "ZOMG I VALUED MY 20 YEAR OLD CLASSIC/SPORTS CAR AND THEY OFFERED ME -insert stupid price-".....Quel suprise! Not the kind of vehicles that they're interested in, or in a position to resell effectively! They have no way of meaningfully valuing that kind of car (i.e. they value it in the 'modern' marketplace) so can't give a 'sensible' quote at the end of the day...

I think the online system could do with being a bit more honest though, as they will try and drive the price down further when you get in, and that's what seems to cause most of the aggro :)

I got a quote of them last year to get rid of my Skoda offered like 3k on the net got there and they completely changed the price for silly things like interior chair dirty when all it need was a wipe with a cloth (i did this with my coat at the time) to get rid of the dirt. I ended up just px'ing mine when i brought my new car.

It's worth noting at this point that both of the cars we got rid of were dross that you wouldn't sell to another human being, so We Buy Any Car seemed like the best option. One of the cars actually got more than if it was sold in the local paper imo.
