Ok, i need a little help deciding what car to go for now, This will be my last "Lads Car" before i tie the knot so i need to do it whilst i can.

I have arround £18k to spend,

ATM i Drive a Mondeo ST Fully loaded.

So far my list includes:

Focus ST500
Focus RS
M3
S3
S4
Megane 225

Any Suggestions or input.

Can you get a new shape Focus RS for £18k?

I wouldn't spend £18k on a Focus ST, £13k~ seems to get you a very good one.

M3 would be an old shape so older than other cars.

Megane is suppose to not be brilliant outside of the manic R 26 version iirc?

Can you get a decent new shape S3 for £18k?

I second the Mustand idea!

M3, Megane 225 and S3 in the same breath?

What?

Either you want an M3, in which case a Megane isnt even going to be on the radar, or you dont

Sounds like another one of those 'yea mate want a proper wicked motor' threads, so get whatever you think looks nicest.

M3 is going be twice the age of anything else on the list and twice the running costs, not sure what its doing on your list because if its the sort of thing you want you wouldnt even think about a Ford Focus.

In before Mondeo.... oh wait.

I would go for the M3, I'm currently lacking the imagination to suggest anything else.

£18k will buy you a decent facelift ST3 on an 08 plate

Or you can pay circa £14-15k on an ST500 like you suggested yourself, which will also be 2008 (but likely on a 57 plate).

I must ask though, why is it the ST500 you are after? If I'm honest, if the red leather doesn't really do much for you, you could probably find an equally or better specced ST3 for £1k less.

I'm going to put my vote for the Focus, I think they are fantastic cars in terms of compromise of speed, drive/feel, handling and comfort - but that depends if that is what you are looking for, if comfort and practicality and as big concerns for you, then the M3 might be better for you if you can afford to run it.

Given your budget and the types of cars your aiming at, as well as the tone of your OP, have you not considered an impreza? You'd possibly be looking at an RB320 if you can haggle.

I don't see why any of the cars would be inappropriate after you "tie the knot"? Getting married doesn't stop you owning and running any type of car?

Unless of course you're about to become seriously under the thumb?!

Fully loaded innit :p

Funny guy, its posts like this which turned me from this forum years back.

I made a promise to my good lady that once im married i will tone down on my cars, i change them more than my undies.

Running costs are not an issue.

The other Option i have, sell my Q7 and the Mondeo and put all funds into one car.

I say those cars in the same breath yes, these are cars i find myself "Thinking about".

I hold a Track Pass for Oulton Park so i shall be visting once a month.

I can pick up an 08 S3 for £17k (a friend of the family)
