Thanks for the comments. I did actually bounce the flash off the ceiling. I guess the next step is to get the flash off the camera and diffused through something better? (I had a cheap chefs hat diffuser on the flash)Couple of things, I find the background a bit distracting, that dark headboard just blends in to her feet.
Try bouncing the flash. You've got it pointed directly at her, giving harsh shadows around her thigh/shoulder/chin etc. Swivel the flash head so its pointing at the ceiling and try again (shooting in manual mode, with the flash on auto, probably something like 1/100, f/8, iso 200 or so).
Try a few different compositions too, i.e. get down low and shoot along her body with the lens wide open. Focusing on the eyes... I take it this is with the 24-70? Any more from the series?
Her hair could be tidied a bit tooHaving said all that she's stunning and you're doing a great job considering you're new to this.
