Dad wants to move to 5.1 now.

Currently got 2 x Gale Silver Monitors wall mouted for the front connected to a Onkyo 507.

I was thinking 2 x Q Aacoustics 2010s for the rear, but I'm not sure what centre & sub would be appropriate.

The Wharfedale Diamond SW150 sub seems to get some very good reviews...anything other to consider around that price range?

Thanks.

I would suggest a Gale Centre 20, it has the same gain as your Silver Monitors, and should share the Gale family sound. You could also go for the Gale Satallite 10's for your surrounds, and there are 5 subs in the gale monitor series which would compliment your existing speakers.

Or you could just sell the Gales, and go for something else. But if you like the gales the next logical step is simply adding more speakers from the Gale Monitor family.

PS I havent checked the price, but really for a good sounding AV system you want to make sure all the speakers share a common "sound presentation".

I'd take a look at the BK Gemini for a sub around your price range. I've been looking for a sub for a few weeks now and the Gemini seems to give good performance for the money. :)

Problem is it's only Richer Sounds who sell Gale by the looks of it, and they don't have any of those.

I guess Gale's website is really out of date, or they sell more products in other countries and richer sounds just doesnt care for the brand....

Based on that I would seriously consider replacing the Gale monitors, perhaps use them as your surround/effect speakers. IMHO the front 3 speakers MUST be from a single manufacter to have a coherant sound, the back speakers "should" be, but its less important as there is almost never real "vocals" and it wont be quite so obvious.
