well price the flight/bus/train up and there you go. theres your cheap reliable way

sadly theres no miracle secret for getting to france/holland from the uk for free

Ferry will be by far the cheapest way.

If you've already found flying too much then that rules that out.

There's the train... but even booked way in advance it'll cost a fortune just to get to london and the Eurostar is hideously expensive.

Ferry and a National Express shouldn't cost very much booked a month or so in advance.

abit off topic but... Were you going on your trip and what's your budget?

they charge extra for non hand luggage

They'll probably also make you fly the plane then fine you when you crash it then add another fine when you ask why, with a secret surcharge if you didn't use their competition-limiting 'credit' card offering. Utter, utter *****.

If you have the time and the inclination, OP, I'd drive it. It's not the cheapest but you'll see a lot more :)

yeh bmi baby was 17 pounds each way east mids to paris, and then 40 pounds tax, worked out alright then they wanted an extra 35 pounds to check a bag in!
I'll have a more in depth look at other routes, any airports and routes cheaper than others?
preferably not spain.

We dont want to drive anywhere thats the idea of the inter rail ticket :p
We are carrying a bergan each around 100 litres

Cheers
